My Golden Retriever was diagnosed at six months of age with flea alergy dermatitis. Since then she has suffered with huge raw hotspots everywhere. She has been injected with cortizone, taken antibiotics, had her diet changed so many times and succumbed to very aggressive flea treatments to try to help her. (She is nine years old) For the past two years her front leg has been permanently bandaged whilst I tried to stop her from biting it to the bone!That is why I bought this book! I put her on the diet suggested. This week marks the second week. The bandages are no longer there. The fur has begun to grow. She has fleas but they are longer bothering her, and I shall adopt a wait and see policy before I treat her with insecticides. She is running, joyous and a transformed dog. That is enough for me - I am joyous too!I wait to see how the diet and other treatments work for my two arthritic Dobermanns, but they are more long term cases, and will need more time. They are certainly more content and the one with Wobbler Disease is walking again.If you value the health and wellbeing of your dog or cat - then this book should be on your bookshelf. A lot of the supplements are American based but probably easy to obtain. certainly the homeopathic ones are here in France.I cannot praise this book highly enough for what it has taught me to do for my animal friends, and I thought I was a bit of an expert. It just shows that there is always something new to learn!

I had never thought to question commercial pet foods until reading Martin Goldsteins book and since changing my cats diet to real fresh food and raw thus my cats health has glowed 'dramatically' with health like never before!The over-active thyroid problem my cat has suffered from likely due to years of eating commercial petfood rubbish has started to become near normal again which the vets said could never happen.I only wish i had known the truth about commercial pet-foods years ago because if I had its very likely my cat would never have got ill in the first place.The difference in my cats health has so radically increased for the better that i shall never buy shop pet-foods ever again.Its actaully quite easy to prepare meals for your pets once you get into it, for example I buy organic beef-mince which costs under £3 and add brown rice, a small amount of flax seed oil, cod liver oil, liquidised-veg & then portion it out into freezer bags & pop in the freezer and that makes me approx 19 meals for my cat and she loves it and I find it works out slightly cheaper than buying the shop stuff.Martin Goldsteins book is a life saver! and has helped my cat have the chance to live for a few years more yet.I can also highly recommend Margrit Coates animal healing DVD as that has also transformed my cats health too.

Fabulous book for any animal lover, it's a book I will refer to again and again. I am a health professional (Human) and I understand the thinking of Martin, the book informs us of the natural healing of animals ,how they can heal themselves without the interference of antibiotics and other drugs that vets jump into , research has now shown that over use of antibiotics has put humans and animals at risk of bacteria not being controlled by antibiotics now, it advises us about how to strengthen the immune system through simple measures. I could go on for ages but this is on of my best books,can't recommend it enough.Brilliant !

Excellent book giving a broader view of veterinary options, for your dog or cat. It is so hard to find good vets, this book gives good guidanceAlmost gave it five stars but could not always find what I wanted.

Recommend this thought provoking book, if you want to do the best for your dog. Gives an insight into manufacturing practices of producers of dog food, and although this is written about USA practices, I can't believe it will be much different in the UK. It also covers thigs such as vaccines and flea and worm treatments, also other medications such as antibiotics and steroids.

This is one of the best written books on animal health I've ever come across, and I've read a lot. He manages to walk the fine line between science and spirit with ease and is truly inspiring about both how you can help keep your beloved companions healthy and the most useful treatments for them if they aren't. All vets should have a copy!

I found this book has a lot of good information to offer, but it contained too many words and personal explanations. I would like itif it just outlined the basics. Information was too hard to find in the personal stories. I am glad there are books like this available, perhaps I just needed more of a reference book.
