OWI Sonic F1 Solar Race Car

This thing didn't work at all. We tried to assemble it - which really is difficult, even for an old model builder like me. But it was a no-go - it simply didn't work.

My 7 1/2 year old grandson and I assembled this kit in about 45 minutes, with him doing most of the work, including identifying the parts, reading the instructions, cutting the parts out of the injection frame, and trimming the burrs off. I had to clarify a few details but the only steps I had to do myself were assembling the gear onto the motor shaft and pushing the wheels onto the axles. Both of these required more force than he could accurately apply, and the wheels were too much for me to do by hand so I resorted to a small 6-oz hammer to get them fully pressed on the axles.Once completed we took it outside for a spin and we were both surprised by how well it runs. It does require full sunlight and starts off slow but comes up to speed and runs fairly straight. It's actually too fast to use on our outdoor patio table as it will zip off the other end if you're not in position and prepared to catch it. We had good luck with it on the concrete driveway - it would run the 30' length in a few seconds.

This car is really cool except that the wheels are not big enough to provide enough clearance to allow the car to move. The solar panel works well and you can hear and watch the wheels turn but once you set it on the ground it remains stuck. Larger wheels would greatly improve this product.

This car is easy enough for a 10 year old to put together, maybe with a little help from an adult. It is a very small low slung toy but it does work.

The solar car did not want to run after it was put together. It didn't seem to work very well.

I bought this for my godson, who is very interested in cars/model cars lately (he's in second grade). He and his dad put the car together quickly with no problems, and were playing with it that afternoon .... He likes it alot, it is a small car and easy to use. Do note, it needs a smooth surface to drive on (not suitable for gravel, etc.). They drive it on a plywood board most of the time.

Car was not able to move even under the sun. Only when I lift it up, the wheels turn.I think the weight of the car is too heavy to move.Poor design of car...wasted my money $$$$.
