After 35 years I finally found the one . . .
This pillow is from a company called, "Pure Comfort," and it is aptly named. It really stands hands above other products available for this purpose with a price point that is impressively affordable for its value and likely longevity.Due to an extensive open knee surgery 36 years ago, I suffer from Grade IV tricompartmental osteoarthritis (bone-on-bone, aka full thickness cartilage loss both laterally and medially with a large osteophyte in the patellofemoral compartment that pushes my knee cap forward away from my body). Basically my knee is all kinds of messed up, but I have learned to live with it for the most part. However, some days it hurts more than others. No medication has ever worked as well for me as does RICE (rest, elevation, and ice). So, I was using a wedge pillow (like this one, ASIN B01N2U7H5U) backwards, with the higher edge against my butt and a regular pillow under my calves. It was a passable set up that was the result of years of trial and error with just about every type of pillow I came across. But it really wasn't ideal, particularly for sleeping. Then one day while browsing, I stumbled upon this Pure Comfort Adjustable Leg Support and elevation pillow, and it is now my Holy Grail leg pillow. Seriously, if I were a Prepper, I'd have one of these in my bugout bag and another two in my bunker. It has so many extraordinary features that I almost do not know where to begin. Probably my favorite design feature is the isolation channel. This, of course, would seem more important after surgery when the limb is so very tender that even the other leg touching it can be painful (not as much with today's arthroscopic procedures, but definitely after open procedures such as tumor resection like I had or knee replacement). Now I have only had this pillow for about a year now, and haven't had limb surgery during that time, and yet this is still one of my very favorite features even though my leg is sore but not tender to the touch. That is because the channel design helps the leg to stay in the perfect elevated position during sleep. With other elevation techniques, all it takes is a little squirming during sleep and I wake up an achy hip, ankle, or both, because although I have kept my knee elevated, I have inadvertently changed the angle of the leg with deleterious effects on the other joints. The adjustability is a close second on my list of stand out features that make this pillow far superior to numerous others I have tried. The pillow comes with additional thinner pillows that can be layered onto the main pillow by placing them inside the removable case. And the additional pieces are not just slabs of viscoelastic foam, either. They are actually fully finished pillows with a satiny covering that is bound on the edges. I received two of those, each about 3/4 " thick. All the materials used are of high quality. The foam is soft but supportive, and the washable case has a luxurious hand. I have had the pillow for just about a year know. I use it frequently, both while awake for icing my knee and during sleep. I launder the case often, yet it still looks and feels like new. There is no deformity to the foam, and the case shows zero signs of wear. The zipper on the outer washable pillowcase is thoughtfully placed on the bottom edge, and it does not extend to the part of the pillow that may touch skin. Even so, a very smooth zipper with fine teeth has been used.Other foam products tend to overheat for me. I have a first generation Tempurpedic mattress, and that thing gets nightmarishly hot even in the winter. So do all my other, "comfort," pillows that I stuff under and around myself for relief pain in other joints. Not this pillow. I see no sign of cooling gel, which often makes little difference any way, and yet this pillow is completely climate neutral. It seems that the designer of this pillow thought of every comfort measure possible. So much so, in fact, that in my medical practice, I am changing the acronym from RICE to PRICE, to include this pillow. No joke.I highly recommend this if you are about to undergo leg surgery, particularly of the knee (because that is my experience with the product, though I suspect that it is equally effective and comforting for ankle problems, too). Finally, I received the offer of post-sale support from the seller. It was nothing pushy, just a single e-mail offering assistance or advice on usage - and when I did not answer, no one recontacted me. But I was pleasantly surprised by the near instant response when I reached out to Pure Comfort nearly a year after my purchase. All I wanted to do was pass on my gratitude for this life-changing product, but in return I got a warm offer of support. Had I been in need of assistance (for a torn pillowcase, defective product, or some such problem), I am certain that Pure Comfort would have made it right.

Can’t imagine recovering from major foot surgery without it!
I’m recovering from major foot surgery. It’s going well but it’s quite a difficult recovery. Ex. Non-weight bearing for at least 2-4 weeks and then another 3-6 months before back to full health. As I searched for something to make this easier, this pillow popped up in my usual Amazon search result. I’m definitely skeptical about products, but the desperation of knowing I needed to have options to ease my pain made me buy this pillow. And I’m so glad I did.It didn’t smell of chemicals when I first opened it, nor does it now. The foam material is strong yet gently supportive. It feels like a soft Tempur Pedic bed (if this gives you a reference).I’m 5’5” and find the pillow size to be perfect in length, depth, and height. In fact, it’s pretty roomy for me. I bought the standard size. I can put both my lower legs in but it is a bit crowded. The height of the pillow is adjustable as you can add, remove, adjust the two thinner mats. Sometimes to mix up the pain managing, I add a feather pillow on top and just enjoy the secure feeling that my leg enjoys bc of this pillow. This has been very helpful in my healing as I am better able to relax and deal with the pain.Another item to note: I also use these two thin foam pads included with the pillow more than I thought I would. I use them to “push” ice packs against my foot or to give extra height to the pillow (toes over nose) to elevate more comfortably. They are so soft and cradle my healing foot like a baby.I washed the outer padding on delicate and hung dry to make it last longer as I have noticed pilling in a few areas. These came from my Velcro at the top of my bandage. For this price point, I’d say it’s a great value. But it also is no slouch in being able to provide quality either! If you are wanting something perfect for surgery recovery or just a pillow to prop one leg up for any reason, this is it. And get it before surgery so when every little bump sends jolts of pain, you at least have a pillow to cradle your foot, leg, knee.I included a ton of images bc you can see how customizable you can make this. Highly recommend having a loyal dog to hang out, too! Best wishes on your health journey no matter what pillow you buy!

Zero degree brace for knee surgery - it works!
I spent a lot of time trying to find a pillow that would work with the leg brace set at zero degrees that didn't cost much.. I'm very happy with this. It works, it's long enough (5'8") with a few inches to spare, my leg doesn't sink and it's very comfortable. Winner winner chicken dinner.

Worth its weight in gold! Just wait 2 nights for it to fully expand before use.
The media could not be loaded. Like many I was hesitant at the price to push the button. And completely set my expectations very high because the cost straight after my leg break. When it arrived, even with the reviews on here, it seemed so flat and out of the shape I expected, that i thought it couldnt possibly get to its full shape given any amount of time. I also felt there wasnt enough foam for it to take the shape of the pictures. Slightly disappointed even after waiting 24 hrs, i was tempted to just start using it and see how it went...but held off another night to give it its best chance to fully take shape. And boy, did it take shape. It is fully worth the wait of 2 nights if you can. Trust the process and leave it a little and it'll be 100% worth it. I now use it downstairs on the sofa and upstairs in the bedroom all night. It gets me comfortable so much faster and keeps my leg stable so even when painkillers wear off, the overall support it gives means my leg doesnt twist and i dont even get pressure pains from the cast. The support is better than anything I could have expected. I badly broke and twisted my lower leg in 2 places and this has been a total game changer in my comfort, even within a week post op. I couldnt recommend this enough, if you can afford the high price point. I totally see where to money went on developing this. I ordered this after 2 nights at home fighting with combination of pillows that i could rarely get right without a lot of fussing regularly. What a great product for supporting those going through a hard time.
