Cheater!!!!
If "Cheater!!!!" is a common refrain in your household, the "Book of Hoyle" is a must. It doesn't even have to be this edition, although I was afraid the newer ones would be a bit suspect -- sorta "kinder, gentler". :(We don't sit down to cards without "Hoylie Bray" (a family name) at the table with us.

A must-have book for any traditional gamer
Covers 303 games plus variations. Meaning for example, Bridge has 18 variations in this book. When I counted, I didn’t count the variations. So the book covers 303 different games and includes the multiple variations of those games. First published November, 1946. My copy is from 1983.The book includes very detailed instructions and rules for the games, drawings or diagrams when appropriate, and explains the history of each game also. For an example of the type of game histories included, see my photo. Before I bought this book, I didn’t realize how versatile those 52 cards can be! But wait, there’s more...In addition to the multitude of card games, this book also includes the instructions and rules for many dominos games as well as checkers, chess, and dice games! There’s no shortage of fun and challenge in this book.During game nights, when the questions and disputes come up, this book is the final arbiter. If you own a deck of cards or a set of dominos, you need this book, period.
