Excellent Knife
I got the knife primarily for food prep when I go camping. There appears to be some confusion about what kind of grind the knife has. The one I got has a FULL FLAT grind. From most pictures of this knife online it appears to have a high saber grind. I've also seen it listed other places where the description says it has a hollow grind. Anyway I'm happy my knife came with a full flat grind. It slices well and works good with a cutting board (similar to a chef knife).Excellent knife for the money.

Different grind of knife.
This knife is totally different now. This one has a full flat grind. I have the previous version which is exactly the one in the photo. The grind ends before The spine atleast more than half an inch. They need to update the photo. Total misrepresentation.

Good Camp Knife
I bought this to use as a camp knife specifically for car camping. Its nice that when my wife or our friends ask for a knife to use, I have a sharp knife to give them to use that I don't need to worry about. This way I get to keep my $$$ semi-custom knife on my person.Pros:sharpvery stainlessthick blade stockgrippy handleCons:uneven grind linespoor quality sheath

This may be Ontario’s best-kept secret
Great camp/outdoor knife. It cuts beautifully, in a way that knives this thick usually don’t. It’s strong enough to stand up at least to some light prying, and tough enough that you may baton it or otherwise beat on it without breaking the knife. I struck the spine of mine against a steel pole repeatedly, and the knife survived just fine. It’s thick enough to take on any outdoor chores, but sacrifices nothing in terms of cutting ability. The knife has only two flaws that I can see, but I gave it five stars due to the price. Expecting a better knife at this price (about $30 shipped as of this writing) would be unreasonable.Flaws: the handle and the sheath. The handle feels a little flimsy, and I would never try batoning this knife point-first. The handle flexes when I pry with the knife. Not a big deal, but it does mean you can’t treat this one like your Marine Corps fighting knife. The sheath is flimsy nylon. This doesn’t bother me, but lots of people will want to replace it. Again, given the price point, we should not expect a first class sheath, and replacing it is no real problem.

I’m not sure how this knife isn’t more popular
I wanted a knife for food prep while camping. I needed it to be short and with a sheath so I can pack it easier for a camping trip. I needed it to be stainless steel so I can cut food with it, clean it, and not have to worry about oiling it.So naturally I looked for a shorter stainless steel kitchen knife that had a sheath. I didn’t find any that were labeled as kitchen knives at least. Every kitchen knife was either too long, didn’t have a sheath, more money, or only sold with a set of more knives. Then I looked for knives made for camping or bushcraft, specifically ones that had a chef’s knife shape and were stainless steel. From what I was able to find, all of them were more expensive than this one and none of them had much of a chef’s knife shape like this one.On top of being able to use this to prepare food, I’m able use it for other regular camp needs - baton wood, make kindling, make tinder. It is definitely a suitable bushcraft knife or camp knife.Yes, there are better camp knives out there with fancier steels. This one gets the job done at a very good price. All knives have their own purpose. This knife does what I need it to do, so because of that I believe it deserves 5 STARS.

Okc delivers
This is my first Ontario knife co. blade. Impressive in many ways. It is light weight but very solid feeling. Blade is legit and for the price it is really nice.

Like the concept, poor knife design and manufacturing.
I really wanted to like this knife. Like the looks of it and the shape. Like the company. Maybe my individual knife has some defects but some of the bad points are just poor manufacturing and design.THE GOODI own many Ontario knives and was excited to see them make a budget steel knife that was shaped more like a chef knife. The size of this knife is perfect and the shape of the blade is great for camp cooking but seems to be able to tackle harder camp chores like making tent pegs, feather sticks and other miscellaneous knife duties. But I never got that far with it.THE BADOut of the box, I noticed immediately that the handle was very flat. Not ergonomic at all. Ok fine. Tested the sharpness and like many factory edges it needed some refining. Figured a few strokes on the water stones would solve that in short order. But this is where the knife qualities stopped. The grind was not consistent. My sharpening was resulting in some wide spots. Further inspection and I could feel large thickness variations in the blade while running my fingers across the it. This was affecting the edge dramatically. 30 minutes in and the flat rubber handle was making a blister on my hand! I’ve never had that happen in 20 years of sharpening knives.Bottom line is this is a budget knife and I expected that. But this thing isn’t worth much expect for a beater knife to throw in when you need one. If I hadn’t spent so much time re-profiling the edge I would have sent it back. Not what I have come to expect from this quality knife company.
