Non-standard sizing, but the only option for a low profile door latch
Ideally, this would fit a standard interior door, drilled for the normal 2-1/8 bore and 7/8 to 1" cross bore for the latch. We found a $12 second hand door to install in our travel trailer for the bedroom, and needed a low profile door knob. The latch mechanism is rectangular and a bit taller than normal, so the top and bottom of the cross bore had to be chiseled out to fit the latch. The latch plate is also larger, so the edge of the door had to be chiseled to seat the latch plate flush on the edge of the door. At least it has square corners, to make it easier to chisel out manually. The strike plate is taller than normal, so similar chiseling for it is also required. The screw holes in the door jamb didn't line up, so I had to predrill for the screws at a slight angle. The square shaft used to turn the latch mechanism has to be cut to length. I estimated a bit too long for the first cut, so the latch didn't turn freely when I tightened the screws. Since I only needed to reduce the length a small amount, I used the hacksaw to cut a U-shaped groove in one end to fit more loosely against a pin inside the door 'knob'. A bench grinder would have helped, but I was working in a remote location. It works great and looks good.Installing a door latch properly often requires judicious use of a sharp wood chisel. This one required more work than expected, but it wasn't all that difficult -- just a bit tedious.

Avoid
Arrived in small cardboard box, taped with white masking tape to keep shut. Appeared to have been opened already. No instructions. Extremely difficult to install. Would not recommend purchasing.

Install was NOT a breeze.
You can see from the picture that the bolt is not standard and you will have to modify the hole in the edge of your door in order for it to fit.The latch and door jamb plates come covered with a thin plastic that you peel off. Peeling was easy as mine was already peeling off right out of the package. Underneath the plastic you’ll find metal the color of nickel. Shouldn’t they be black to match the handles? They didn't look black in the pictures, but I convinced myself it was just a bad picture with poor lighting. The screws to screw the plate to the door jamb are black and match the handles. So, you get black screws to attach nickle colored plates. It says, “Fits Door Thickness: 1.38 – 2.17 inch”. How is this supposed to fit doors of different thickness? That axle is clearly solid and is not intended to be modified and the shallow recesses where the axle fits into the handles leaves no room for adjustment. My door is 1.5 inches and the axle is way too long. Without modifications, this latch will ONLY fit a door 1 7/8 inches thick. It would probably be too short for that 2.17 inch thick door. The long screws that screw the handles together through the door are chrome colored and not black like the latches. However, they are designed so they can be shortened for doors of different thickness simply by snapping pieces off using pliers. I had to snap four sections off to get it short enough to work. They almost got something right. The screws may be the wrong color, but the way it is designed you only see the screw heads when you turn the handle. Otherwise they are hidden. What you will have to do to get this installed and to make it look right:I used a coarse file to file down the top and bottom of the hole in the edge of the door until the bolt fit in smoothly but tightly. It took some elbow grease and was slow and tedious, but the end result was more precise than I could have done with a router, drill or chisel.I removed the peeling plastic from the plates and spray painted them flat black and then a flat clear coat. I also painted the heads of the long screws. Then I threw everything into the oven for a while to bake the paint on. I’m sure the paint will still eventually get scraped off with the opening and closing of the door.I used my bench grinder to shorten the axle – very carefully. Too short and you’re up the creek. Now it was time for a break before beginning the install.I watched William Devane try to sell me gold (that will be as worthless as your bank account when the zombies rise up), Tom Selleck trying to take advantage of financial desperation to convince me to sign away my home for a reverse mortgage (I’m doing just fine thank you) and reminisced about (a young and sane) Britney Spears selling me Pepsi. (Sold!)I finished my Pepsi, took all my modified parts and completed the install. When tightening the long screws the handles became stiff and the latch would stick and wouldn’t return. I determined that I hadn’t ground down the axle short enough and had to grind it down just a little more. It took several trips to the bench grinder as I was concerned I would grind it down too short, but I finally got it right. I reassembled everything and it finally works correctly. So you CAN get this installed and make it work correctly, but it’s a PITA. Odds are that once you receive it you will probably return it. It’s what I should have done.

Low profile for tight spaces, looks great & was easy to install
Mounting plate slightly larger then standard door hardware, had to use Chesil and clean things up for good fit. Other than that looks and works great, wanted low profile instead of knob for attic access doors, I would recommend this product.

Might not fit standard cutouts
I like the product however I had to spend two hours installing by modifying the door cut outs to fit the unusual size. Had to cut down the screws, the rectangular bar that throws the latch. Its all good now and is what I wanted however wish I could have that extra weekend hour and a half back it took to install it.

Made slight modifications
It works. The axle that this doorknob rides on needed to be cut down in order to fit the door. Lucky for me I have a benchvise and a hacksaw. However, after this modification the handle worked well. This handle looks good and is low profile like promised, parts feel quality.

Seem nice but didn’t fit sadly
Quality seems great. If you can customize your doors to fit them they they seem like an awesome option!
