Make baking a part of your Halloween traditions
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. Carving jack-o-lanterns, dressing up for trick or treating, watching horror movies. The only thing that has been missing from our annual traditions is one that is more closely associated with Christmas: baking desserts. Thanks to Annie Rigg's Halloween Treats: Simply Spooky Recipes for Ghoulish Sweet Treats, that is changing.Coffin sandwich cookies, mummified cupcakes, large cakes covered with bats, ghosts, or spiderwebs, meringue bones...there are so many great recipes to choose from here. Some of the recipes are easy enough for children to help with, while others are designed for the more experienced bakers, but there is definitely something here for everyone. The step-by-step directions are easy to follow, so you will be able to delight all of your frightful friends, young and old, with these Halloween goodies.

Cute, but not practical
I bought "Halloween Treats" because I was looking for fun recipies to make for my best friend whose birthday is Halloween. The recipies are really nice, but fancier then I care for and I'm really not into fancy decorating cookies etc. I think it's a great cookbook for folks, ladies especially who really like decorating things more then I do.

Great style & photos... for British audiences?!?
This cute, pint-size book offers a "greatest hits" collection of recipes for now ubiquitous treats like severed finger cookies, meringue bones, cobweb and mummy cupcakes. The photography and design is beautiful, however, the recipes have only been minimally adapted for American audiences so some of the directions are somewhat perplexing on first read. Caster sugar? Preheat the oven to Gas 4? Fruit pasties? Come on publisher. Halloween is a quintessential American holiday. You couldn't give this lovely styled book a quick rewrite?
