Oily/Acne Cruelty Free Handmade Free of Phthalates, Parabens, SLS, Mineral Oil, and Artificial Fragrances Ingredients Activated Charcoal This is a charcoal that has been treated with oxygen which creates more active regions to chemically bind with impurities (hence it is called “activated” charcoal!). When applied topically, activated charcoal binds to dirt, oil and toxins, detoxifying the skin. Great for facial cleansers and masks that target cleansing the pores to prevent break outs. Tea Tree essential oil Tea tree essential oil has been extensively studied and has shown to have antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal, and immune stimulating properties. Studies have also shown that topical application of the oil can help alleviate acne by killing the bacteria that causes breakouts. Neem oil The neem tree has been used in India as a medicinal herb for thousands of years and is still used today in Ayuverdic practices. The oil is rich, fragrant, and useful for problematic skin because of its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Dead Sea Salt Dead Sea salt is rich in minerals like magnesium, calcium and bromide which, unlike sodium chloride which is what regular sea salt is made of, actually helps hydrate the skin. These minerals, when absorbed in the skin, also stimulate detoxification, reduce inflammation, help improve acne and psoriasis, and improve skin barrier function. Color Coding Every one of Apoterra Skincare products is suitable for break out prone skin and will help you age gracefully, but each color indicates what that particular product is formulated to do. Although skin type is determined partly by genes, Apoterra Skincare believe skin changes with the climate/seasons, diet, and age. Your skin may be combination (oily and dry) as well as break out prone during the summer, but might become more dry in the winter. Reassessing the condition of your skin on a seasonal basis will help you find the best skincare ritual. Is everything Apoterra Skincare make natural? Yes! Almost all their ingredients are used in their naturally occuring form. Some ingredients, such as vitamin E and CoQ10 are naturally derived and naturally found in nature. The only ingredients that they use that are not always derived from natural sources is their Vitamin C and Vitamin B3. Apoterra Skincare chose to integrate these into their skincare products as they are extremely effective, they have a proven safety record and they are naturally occurring vitamins. Are Apoterra products 100% certified organic? Apoterra Skincare products are made with certified organic ingredients (either USDA or Ecocert certification). Although many of their products are in fact 100% organic, some contain wildcrafted or conventional ingredients (usually less than 5%).
