Seeds germinated and fruit is tasty, plant is prolific
Seeds arrived quickly. I planted about a dozen and nearly all germinated in 8 to 12 days (so cute and tiny). Now they are about nine inches tall and flowering. I can’t wait until they fruit!Update: once the weather warmed up they grew fast. They are about 15 inches in height and sprawling. They have flowers and little lanterns all over.June update: the first ground cherries have dropped! They have an unusual taste- starts out with a tropical juicy burst that has vanilla aromatic, and ends with a sweet tomato-y flavor. They are very sweet and tart, but the tomato finish will take some getting used to. When I have enough, I’m going to try them as jam or chutney. The plants are very hardy, and are doing well in even under the high winds our area gets. They have survived rainy season and are now doing well during the dry season.I’ve read several reviews from people who didn’t get sprouts. I’ve had success on with 3 different physalis subtypes (heirloom ground cherries, Peruvian golden berries and tomatillos). I put the seeds on the surface of a peat pellet and kept in ziplock or container on a very warm sunny windowsill. The directions say not to bury the seeds, which makes sense since the seeds, and the resulting sprouts, are so very tiny. The sprout may not be able to get to the surface if it’s buried. Then it needs to be kept warm and moist. Plant more than you need. Some sprouts will thrive and grow quickly and some seem to just stay small. Although, all of my plants for this species are doing well. Don’t overwater the, they will split and you won’t be able. To store them.

None of my seeds germinated
I planted a full cell of starters (64 seeds) and not one sprouted. I am an experienced gardener and had the seeds indoors in seed starting soil and there was zero sign of any germination. All the rest of my seeds from other companies had no issue, so I know it wasn’t the growing method. I’m so disappointed.

Happy gardener
I received my order quickly. I planted the seed in starter pod. They took off quickly. i sprinkled a light dusting of potting soil on top and they germinated quickly. It looks like possibly 99- 100% germination. I purchased seeds from 3 companies and these were the only ones to germinate. the other two companies haven't germinated 1 seed. I don'ft think I dusted them with potting soil. I will give them a shot at it one more time. 5 plus stars and can't wait for fruit picking at the end of the summer. These have got to be the best of the best of fruit. Bugs and birds don't bother them because of the outer husk. I will buy these again in the future. The package of seeds were plentyful.

Ground Cherries are delicious
I haven't planted these yet. I really hope they grow because I use to have ground cherries come up in my yard years ago and I loved picking and eating them. You can eat them by themselves, raw and/or put them in a salad or relish of some sort. They are similar to Tomatillos but much smaller. I can't wait to see if I can get ground cherries growing in my yard again. I reported this former review when I first purchased the seeds. My first year was not good and I barely got 6 Ground Cherries to eat. This year, I worked some Miracle Grow into the soil and this first photo is only two plants and they are covered with ground cherries. I have never seen the plants get this big before and I told someone that they don't get very big. Seems like it depends a lot on what the soil is like that they are planted in. I have been picking them like crazy this year and they are so good. I put some in my chicken sandwich and it was good. Going to try them in another recipe soon. YUM Also, some are falling on the ground so I probably won't have to plant seeds next year.

Great product
Bought some seeds because a co-worker raved about ground cherries. First time tasting them, and although they aren't my favorite, I give these 5 stars. I had 100% germination from 7 seeds. I grew 2 in pots in my greenhouse and the rest outside in garden beds. They are super productive! The ones in the greenhouse got too hot and limp but still bore a lot of fruit., The ones outside are still green, tall, healthy looking and full of fruit. My co-worker loved them!

seeds did not germinate.
I planted these seeds several times - I tried potting soil in a peat pot -inside at 70 degrees. Not one seed germinated. I tried putting the seeds between two moist paper towels inside at 70 degrees. I keep the towels moist and checked each day. After 3 weeks still no sign of a plant. These seeds are bad and a waste of money!

Ground Cherries aren't cherries, but tasty as can be.
Quick germination. Plenty of seed. A lifetime of heirloom seeds with the first crop to follow. This variety, I believe, used to grow wild, poolside, with a house I rented in central Jersey. Tasty as can be, and, I suspect, probably will have similar health benefits claimed for its Inca berry cousin. I was so happy to findseeds for this Physalis species. The Americas turned out to be a blessed place for agricultural tinkerers arriving from away. Thanks, Nature.
