Great book to inspire a child into the world of engineering.
I bought this book for my 5 year old son who loves learning how everything, and I mean EVERYTHING works. I knew this book would not be as detailed as some in the Usborne Engineering collection but as my local library couldn't find me a copy to borrow so I could 'try before I buy' I wanted to buy one in good condition and at a good price. Well it was sold to me as " used, very good condition" and it's in "amazing" condition. As described the spine top and bottom has the slightest indentation marks but apart from that it looks brand new. It's absolutely spotless and out of the many flaps inside not one,.......not one I tell you had been lifted up, so for price and presentation it definitely ticked all the boxes. Like I said I knew this book wouldn't go into great detail about each individual invention, the Usborne range has other books for that. But just as described it does give a perfect overview of how, "Engineering helps shape the world around us" and some are more obvious than others and it's done in a fun and interactive way. My son will soon be 6 years old and constantly surprises me at how he can grasp pretty complex information, and I'm not sure what age of child this book is meant for but he understood most of it but some information will take bit longer to process. Definitely a good book to read together at this age to help facilitate their understanding,......and mine! On the back of the book it also gives a web address to find more info on engineering and activities and projects to try at home.

Amazing book for curious kids (and adults!)
My 5/6 y.o. loves to learn about how things work! We have a couple of other Usborne lift-the-flap books including "How Things Work" which we also adore. I loved the larger size of this book compared the the other Usborne lift the flaps that we own, and the images and information provided seem more modern/updated too. The book is a great introduction to different types of engineering and definitely sparked my little one's curiosity! We read the whole thing cover to cover the day we received it, and I'm sure we will be exploring it further in the future!
