Yes! And this line that says "Ethernet" pops up too. It was a really pleasant surprise. The speed was so fast! I was able to transfer huge files in minutes to my Network-Attached Storage. It did get pretty hot after extended use though.

Can i connect to my iphone 12 and then transfer files from a usb to my iphone 12?

Yes, I used a thumb drive to transfer files and play a movie from the thumb drive. The thumb drive mounts in the Files app

Will this work on iPhone 12 pro

Half! It works but there is not mount icon on the screen of iPhone 12 pro. My iPad works.

Why is it so hard to find a lightening port to usb adapter that can charge and transfer data but also doens't cost $999?

I use the charging cable that came with my devices to do this.
