Surprisingly Gut-Wrenching, with some funny parts
I like Whitney Cummings as a comdian, smart and funny with a curious edge. This is the first book I've read from her, so I was expecting something a little fluffy, funny, and a smattering of her standup routine. What I didn't know was her backstory, and she wrote about it very poignantly in this work, all while adding screamingly funny parts. It was well worth reading.

In general a GREAT BOOK! A MUST READ.
I also bought the audiobook because I love Whitney. I had no clue she had gone through all these things. This book has made me laugh, I cried with Whitney while she did when telling her body image and control struggles. I completely identified with her because I myself have codependency and anxiety issues. I love how genuine and authentic she has been in this book. Whitney, you are helping a whole generation of women who fear opening up about their struggles to do so and helped me understand that I am not alone and there’s others out there who have felt and feel like they are abnormal. Your advise has helped me soooo much. This is a well written poignant, funny and very helpful book for everyone.

Worth the Read
There are just a handful of cliches and mountains of relative advice from a real woman. She is vulnerable and funny, making it easier to relate to.She's honest and smart about how she suffers from ego problems and stubbornness.I really liked it and I was happily surprised, really. This read is worth it.It's not like every other book out there.

LOVE THIS BOOK!!!
LOVE this book! Holy cow!! Two thumbs (way) upI didn't really know what to expect. I read the other comments, I'm familiar with a lot of Whitney's work, etc. I'm so so glad that I purchased this book! So smart and insightful, and the kind of humor filled therapy session where I actually learned a LOT, that I didn't know I needed. I have parts that I'll be revisiting and will likely read the full book again.

Too much of Whitney Cummings
Love Whitney Cummings, and her humor comes across in her writing as well. Very funny writing and I was very entertained throughout the book. However, I wasn't expecting this much of detail of her life in this book and I am not sure if I really want to know that much about her. Love her shows, would go and watch it live in a heat beat. I even bought this book because I like her humor. But sometimes it's better to not know much about your favorite person. A bit of mystery is good.

Phenomenal! A Compendium of Humanity!!
Wow. So she tells you everything she's learned in life. This includes therapy, psychology of herself, psychology of most people, some related physical ailments, humor, some helpful tips for life, and a comprising of these. This is definitely a hidden gem, and a superior memoir. I thank Whitney for her candidness, and for doing the emotional grit of helping herself and; therefore also humanity. This is something I feel everyone has a responsibility to do. Everyone should read this book. Everyone can find out something they didn't already know.

A self help book without being obvious about it
Whitney is relatable throughout the entirety of the book, and keeps even the darkest chapters light with her clever comedic writing style. Codependency and eating disorders are often belittled, humored, or ignored when discussed. This book addresses the illnesses for what they are... addictions. It’s calming to know I’m not the only one who sits up at night because my friend didn’t post a picture for my birthday, even though I posted one of her. Why didn’t she post one? I deserve a picture too??? Okay sorry I’m working on it. Also I shouldn’t be sorry for having emotions, I learned that too.The societal norms that pressure women into unhealthy methods of maintaining an image is real. You can still be a feminist with a nice set of fake boobs. Pit bulls aren’t jerks, people are jerks. AND RUN FROM RED FLAGS!!!! (But you probably won’t because hey, codependency am I right)I’ve read this book and listened to the audio book and would recommend both to anyone and everyone.

Aimed more for women
I really enjoy Whitney Cummings however be being a mid 30's male, I just may not be in the targeted demographic. I love autobiographies and did finish it but gave it to my mom. It focuses on eating disorders and her co-dependency problem. Also her seemingly uncanny knack for finding the wrong male partner. What I would have done differently: there is VERY little discussion about her rise to fame and how she dealt with it. It's hardly mentioned, and it's more about subjects like her dog biting her ear, her dating a Guatemalen drug dealer etc whens he was younger. I was REALLY hoping for her own story in her own words about going from a relatively unknown comic to a super star in just a few months.

Whitney dissects issues from every conceivable angle.
I found it an exhaustive but entertaining read. Exhaustive because she's been through so much. Clearly, Whitney is rabidly intelligent person. She's open and honest and bares all.

Disappointing
Not really relevant. They don't give any advice. It's just her son story and that's it
