This is THE pack for people with chronic pain management issues.
My Bride had neck surgery - serious surgery - two years ago. It fixed the structural problems but she still has pain. Lately it has been getting worse. Early this week, I did some research and ordered this product.Thank God I did.Wednesday night she was in incredible amounts of pain - so much we spent several hours in the ER. The next day, this showed up and I tossed it in the freezer. A few hours later, it was ready to provide relief. And it did. This is a solid, big pack. It has a thick and durable plastic cover and is thin enough to counter to her body in a variety of areas. It holds the cold for at least 45 minutes to an hour and it is ready to go again in no time.Yesterday, I used the microwave to heat it up - her pain has caused some muscle tension. It took a while to gradually get it warm but it was worth the effort. She found it provided a great deal of relief. She thinks it held a comfortable amount of heat for about a half hour. This pack has already proven to be a Godsend. We cannot recommend it enough.

I had high hopes for this but it was a bad experience
I had high hopes for this but it suckedAs soon as I got it I put it in the freezer to try for later. I have been waiting for a similar item from the VA for months now and I got tired of waiting and rotating small packs out for my back. I read the reviews and even cleared a space for it in my fridge so it was clear and laid flat. Sadly when I got home tonight I pulled it out and it although it was noticeably cold it wasn't anywhere close to as cold as my other small packs.**I'll also add that I scanned the reviews thinking maybe I missed something and I noticed two things.1. many people had it leaking gel after a few uses2. everyone had a generic reply saying the same thingIt is almost as if they use a bot for customer service or they really don't care to leave a personalized reply. Customer service is more than cut and paste. Sad

I just turned 40 :( - Read review for a tip
I turned 40. And my body's been breaking down! When I sit and stand, I hear popping in my knees. My ankle gives away at the slightest turn. I don't feel invincible anymore. On my last run, I twisted my ankle. No fun!I picked this up without knowing much about how these gel packs work. But I'm glad I did. It's big enough that it covers a large area. And the pack stays cold for a good amount of time (I'd say about 30 minutes or so).Tip:I would recommend ordering a couple so you can alternate. So that as one cools down, you don't have to wait for it to get cold again in the freezer. I'm regretting not having ordered 2 from the start, because now I have to wait a couple more days to get another one shipped to me.Highly recommended. 5 stars.

Stays cold, is large & sturdy.
This hot and cold pack is very large and well made. It stays cold for a long time. After being removed from the freezer, it is somewhat pliable which is nice if you need to use it draped over a body part such as your thigh. I got this one to replace a cold pack that I got from my physical therapist. That pack was very, very soft and pliable and was fantastic but it burst. So, this one is not as pliable & soft but I don't feel like it will break. I recommend it.

Works well, but microwave time is significantly longer than the 30 second recommended on package.
This takes more than two minutes in our microwave, rotating on a carousel and flipping and kneading it every 30 seconds or so to prevent hot spots. We have a small but powerful microwave--it takes about 1 to 1-1/2 minutes to heat a mug of water to very hot. Otherwise, I love the large size and flexibility that it can be used hot or cold.

It covers a large area of my body so I can easily ice my legs
I'm big into sports and exercising and as I get older it gets harder and harder to recover. My physical therapist suggested I should try to ice my joints and muscles after a game to improve my recovery time, reduce swelling and inflammation so I can get back out there quicker. I took her advice and bought active therapy ice pack and its done the job so far. It covers a large area of my body so I can easily ice my legs, back, or core. Its a really big gel pack but it took about 2 hours to freeze and was still flexible enough to wrap around my thigh. It's early days but so far its been a life saver, I've really been able to lessen my recovery time and my joints feel much better. I'd definitely recommend this to anybody with aches and pains.

Big and very heavy duty, works great!
My husband recently had shoulder replacement surgery. I bought this to use after therapy in particular. It worked great! It is large enough to go over his whole shoulder and part of the back. It stays cold for a long time, another big plus. Only issue is that you have to have a fairly large space in your freezer to store it and it does get wet, not a lot but definitely damp, as it loses its cool. I draped a dish towel over him then put it over his shoulder and it worked just fine.

Site does not allow you to give 1/2 or zero stars, it requires it be given at least 1 star.
We received our ice pack on August 8, it is now September 24 and it is already leaking. The site does not provide an option to return/replace the item. We would NEVER buy this item again if it is only good for approximately 1 month. It would be great if the company responded about replacing this item but when you try to submit a request it doesn't go through.
