Griffin, iPhone X Protective Case, Survivor Strong: 5.11 Tactical Edition, Impact Resistant Slim Case (OD Green)

Always a fan of Griffin products and adding the 5.11 brand made this a nice product. Sturdy and pretty good protection.

Nice case. Good quality

Since the days of the iPhone 4, I've used Magpul bump cases, but sadly they're not available for the X series. So I thought I'd try another brand that I trust, 5.11. While the construction and materials of this phone case appear to be of good quality it suffers from two significant problems. The first is that the design of the case interferes with the speakerphone pickup so that it's necessary to practically have the microphone in your mouth for the other person to hear you (not a problem with a Speck case I tried earlier), and there is insufficient bumper depth on the face of the phone so if you drop it face down on anything but a a dead flat surface, debris is likely to make contact with the screen and break or scratch it. I understand that they were trying to make the case as slim as possible, but an extra millimeter of depth on the front of the phone would make no ergonomic difference, but would make a huge difference in the survivability of the phone when dropped. My phone spends a lot of time in dusty environments so ruggedness is critical and with a combination of a Magpul case and a Screen Armor ballistic glass shield, I've never broken an iPhone. I'm sorry but this just does not cut it as either a field case or a day-to-day case because the mic pickup with it on is so poor.
