The Best Way to Cream Sugar
I love the standard paddle option for my mixer but having to stop and scrape down the bowl while making icing and creaming ingredients got to be a pain (I like to make up to 5 dozen cupcakes at a time!). The flex edge beater is great because it scraps everything from the side of the bowl without having to stop and fully incorporates it in less time. It's best for soft things like creaming butter and sugar, icing, melted chocolate, and cremes. I was worried when I tried using it on cold (hard) butter that it would rip the flexible piece off but it handled everything well after a few minutes. You have to make sure that you are not over filling the bowl when you use this so your ingredients don't slosh up and stick above where the flex edge is (otherwise you have to scrape down the sides into the mix). All in all this beater is a great, general purpose everyone should own. I am writing this review as part of a contest

Great for mixing!
Bought this for my 6 qt kitchen aid mixer and works great. Make sure if you have the bigger bowl/professional series mixer you find the correct model number since this might not work how it is designed otherwise. For mine, it is perfect for mixing cookie dough, brownies and cookies, or anything of consistency like that. You can wash in the dishwasher top rack, I recommend putting the top of the beater (where it attaches to the mixer) facing down so the water doesn't pool in there and cause it to rust. Also, this will aid in drying it out! Be careful when mixing in powders (like flour) because of the tight contact it makes with the side of the bowl, it can send the flour flying out of the bowl. Buy one of the clear covers to use while mixing (again make sure it's the correct size) and/or add in slowly.

Not durable at all
I’ve had this for many long months now (almost two years). It was fine the first couple times and worked great. After a couple uses, it started making a horrible squeaking noise that was unbearable. It made me stop using it altogether. The best part about it was the scraping of the sides of the bowl, but the poor fit with the mixer head causing this squeaking noise outweighs that.Long story short, you’d do better paying more for the actual kitchen aid brand as it would likely be a great deal more reliable

This worked great.
This worked great. This paddle attachment is perfectly fitted to the 6-QT Professional 600 Kitchen Aid mixer, and really should have been the one sold with the unit. The rubber edges do a fantastic job of cleaning the bowl as it mixes, and you will have practically 0 residue on the sides of the bowl and near-perfect mixing.I will never go back to making cheesecake without it. It was quick, easy, and mess free (as mess free as cheesecake batter can be). Well worth the investment, and a significant step up from the standard attachment.

Had this only for 5 months..
Used this and it cracked at the top. Advise to used only metal type but loved that it cleaned the bowl as it mixed. I'm sad that it broke and I had to toss a whole mix away because pieces of the plastic fell into the batter.

Good idea, but not very durable.
The idea of this mixing paddle is great, but the implementation is lacking. If you are mixing small batches of light might materials this will probably do the trick. If you are mixing frequently with heavier batters, it will likely not make it long. We had ours for a few months before it cracked in the middle of a batch of butter cream frosting. The plastic body is light weight, but the means it not all that strong either. For the same price we are going to replace this one with a stronger metal body version.

Great value over Kitchenaid brand
Works like a charm, I can't imagine why you'd pay several times as much for the name brand. You have to use the screw on the neck of the mixer to adjust the height of the bowl. How tightly the blade contacts the bowl very much affects how well it wipes. The blade comes with instructions on how to do this.I actually didn't know what that screw was for before I bought this.
