Q: Is this heavy cotton?

These shirts shrink a lot! An XL will be a L in 2 or 3 washings. Not heavy duty but about the same as a 3 pack of Hanes white t-shirts. In the middle I would say.

Q: Does the shirt fit kids

The small will fit a kid but not a child. What's the difference, a kid would be in my mind would be like 10 yrs old and a child under 10. But then there is to many different sizes even with ages. So I would say it will fit a person around 100 pounds. After two or three washes and the dryer doing it's magic, it will fit an 80 kid.
