Available for the first time on DVD, the classic 80s TV series Hooperman stars John Ritter (TV s Three s Company) as plainclothes police detective Harry Hooperman. When he inherits a building from his former landlady, he also gains ownership of her dog, a feisty Jack Russell Terrier named Bijoux. Comedy and drama ensue in equal measure as Hooperman juggles the pressures of his job, his newfound pet, and a romantic entanglement with the building manager he hires. The series co-stars Barbara Bosson (TV s Hill Street Blues) and Felton Perry (RoboCop) and includes guest appearances (throughout the two-season run) by Don Cheadle (TV s House of Lies), Norman Fell (TV s Three s Company), Mark Hamill (Star Wars), Barbara Rush (Bigger Than Life), David Paymer (Mr. Saturday Night), Joanna Kerns (TV s Growing Pains), Jane Leeves (TV s Frasier), Dan Lauria (TV s The Wonder Years), Lorna Luft (Grease 2) and Shannon Tweed (Hot Dog ... The Movie).

A Classic 80s Tv series.
A cleary lost and under-rated televisin show. I dont know why they wont bring this back to tvviewing. Starring John Ritter, and a few other familar well known faces seen on tv.With a half serious and half comedy storyline, and entertainment all the way. This is a jewel that collecters should have.If you havent seen it, you are missing out.

Great comedy show. John Ritter is the best. Too bad it only lasted two seasons.

Faulty disc mars excellent series season
The series, overall, is an excellent gem, worthy of any TV DVD collection. Both seasons are worth watching, no matter what.Having said that... On the first disc of the season one collection, episode four skips so badly, that it freezes in my BluRay player. Fortunately, I can watch the episode on my computer. Though, I shouldn't have to do that for a single episode (one of my favorites of the show).Just wanted to forewarn anyone thinking of purchasing season one.

Disappointing
I have always been a fan of John Ritter who left to early. I ordered this season of the short series “ Hooperman”. Many of the disks stop in the middle of the episode. I therefore will not the second season It’s a shame, this is defective and I feel should not be sold unless the problem. Is solved

Doesn't Hold Up Well
I'm glad that this series was finally released on DVD after nearly 30 years. I recall this show as one of the best shows on TV in the late 1980s. Perhaps my memory is accurate, but perhaps shows in the late 1980s weren't very good compared to the present day. The show doesn't even hold up very well when compared to near-contemporary Bochco police procedurals such as Hill Street Blues and NYPD Blue. John Ritter's dramatic acting skills had not yet developed, and the scripts seem cliched and full of plot holes. Trying to produce a police procedural in self-contained, 22-minute episodes probably wasn't a great idea, especially when at least half the show is devoted to the protagonist's personal life. On the other hand, Bijou is as charming as I remember.Technically, the DVDs are okay. Some of the episodes are out of order on the Season 1 DVDs, and there are serious sound problems in the pilot episode.
