The total package for dark chocolate
I recently gave up most refined sugars and processed foods on a gut healthy diet, but dark chocolate (over 75% cacao) is allowed since it has a lot of fiber and low sugar. Most of the chocolate I found at the grocery store over 75% was kind of gross and way too bitter or cardboard-y for my taste. My chinese medicine acupuncturist suggested this one (which is 88%) and it's DELICIOUS. So DELICIOUS. Did I say DELICIOUS yet? I mean, it's not as great as milk chocolate, but if you're looking for the 'healthy' chocolate, this is your bar. I love that it is also a socially conscious company. Two thumbs way up on this one.

DELICIOUS CHOCOLATE RASPBERRY ALMOND - BUT STALE - DISAPPOINTED
These are delicious chocolate bars... was happy to have found them for delivery at a reasonable price. I've been buying these for years locally, and absolutely love them - Dark Chocolate w-Raspberries & Almonds. My purchase here, 3 out of 3 were stale. Usually can't stop eating them, but these taste very different, like they're old. No deep dark chocolate taste, can barely taste the cranberries, hardly any almonds - all unusual for this brand. This was my second try. Purchased the assorted, and found the same. This time I requested a return.July 12, 2017 Update: Tried again... Dark Chocolate w-Raspberries & Almonds - This time, more than disappointed. Product made us very sick and nauseous to the point of... yep, you guessed it. Will not purchase here again.

Love the chocolate, but this batch had bloomed.
Love this chocolate, love the mission. Nothing critical to say about the product itself. One comment on this particular batch, though, is that many of my bars have bloomed on one end. Still edible - have used it to make hot cocoa.

Discolored & crumbly.
Every bar in the package was crumbling apart, old, discolored & uneatable. Very disappointing.

88% dark chocolate
::Steps up on chocolate packing-crate::This is my dark chocolate choice from now on, or until I find a certified vegan (this is made with equipment processing products containing milk), 100% organic, conservation-active, etc., company with standards exceeding this.I'm thrilled part of the expense is donated to help protect wildlife! The inside wrapper contains information about the jaguar. I had no idea their numbers have dwindled as much as they have, which is very sad. But I'm glad this company is raising awareness. Now; the chocolate. I'm a fanatic and eat a few squares of dark, high-cocoa-content chocolate almost daily. I've tried other brands, but most are hard and crumbly-dry similar to baking chocolate. Not exactly satisfying. Until I found this 88% bar.I'm amazed. This is rich, with the unctuous mouth-feel I've been looking for. I've made my own, so I know it's possible, but I don't have time and usually reserve chocolate-making for special occasions or when the mood strikes.Dark chocolate is best when it has depth and that's exactly what this has. Definitely deep, with layers of dark, complex flavor and a hint of smokiness similar to coffee. Earthy and heavy, like a sliver of a grown-up, rich chocolate cake; the sort that's completely satisfying for its size.I'll keep buying this in twelves as long as the price equals retail, but will purchase elsewhere otherwise.Try. This does not disappoint.

My favorite widely-available chocolate!!!...intense, earthy, roasted flavor; in affordable pricing and it supports a good cause!
This is definitely my favorite “go-to” chocolate which is affordable but still top quality. If you are looking at this product and reviews, chances are you have already eaten a lot of dark chocolate. If you haven’t, this isn’t a great place to start given the cacoa content is so high (I found this out myself the hard way). I used to eat mainly milk chocolate, which is primarily sugar. I initially tried an 85% dark and despised it. I then worked my way up starting with like a 45%, then 60%, than 72%, then 85%, then 88-100%...which worked a lot better as my taste could adapt to the change (for better or worse [better for me as I need to watch my dietary intake and want the health benefits of dark chocolate], standard commercial milk chocolate is now so overly sweet to me that I cannot eat it.)The flavor notes to Panther are intensely full-bodied, bitter, and of strong “earthy” taste and a hint of vanilla and smoke…the strong earthy flavor is similar to many fine dark chocolates made with Jamaican beans. This earthy flavor is a strongly love/hate sort of thing, and it will probably result in you, a) loving this chocolate, or b) despising it, as such bold flavors have few middle grounds. I personally love it.The ingredients that go into it are pure…it’s a fantastic cocoa base. Even at 88% cocoa content, the start and finish still have smooth notes to them, and the aftertaste is pleasant compared to many other dark chocolates of similar type. The ingredients also have a lot of integrity behind them. While not a make-or-break to my decision of chocolate, the ethical trading, preservation awareness, and them donating 10% of their profits (which is a huge percentage amount and incredibly generous) appeals to me as an added bonus and is another of many reasons I like Endangered Species Chocolates. The health effects are also there. It’s come to light that cocoa contains numerous minerals and antioxidants that are linked to improving health. It’s also come to light that dark chocolate tastes better than other chocolates, plus it has more health benefits from the higher cocoa content and fewer fillers and chemicals. So it comes as no shocker than dark chocolate has become huge! Naturally-processed chocolate is going to have the most health benefits (and use the fewest chemicals). Endangered Species does just that, as they do not process their Panther with alkaloids (“dutching”), which nukes all of the good things in cocoa we can benefit from. The reason I got into dark chocolates to begin with was because I was getting fat on milk chocolate and wanted to still enjoy chocolate but without the sugar rush, plus get the health benefit of cocoa. This is a great choice for just that…a 20 ounce bottle of soda has more sugar in than A POUND of Endangered Species Panther! The sugar is incredibly low when dark chocolate gets to 90%…even people on highly restricted sugar diets can often eat 86%+ dark chocolate. And let’s not forget the benefit to memory, increasing metabolic rate, and boosting energy. When I am running out of steam, I have a few of these. The caffeine content in them is high! It also has theobromine, and numerous alkaloids thought to increase energy and be linked to why chocolate is an aphrodisiac. If you don’t believe me, have an ounce or two around 2 PM and watch what happens! So my vote is to give this a try if you like full-bodied, intense dark chocolate. It is a lot less expensive than most artisan brands, but it still delivers a flavor that it unique to their own product and has many simultaneous flavor notes. It tastes good, it’s healthy, it’s ethical, it supports a good cause, and it’s affordable…not too shabby if you ask me!

Great dark chocolate!
I love this dark chocolate. It has a wonderfully complex flavor, and great texture in the mouth. It's not overly bitter, like some dark chocolates can be and it tastes fresh. Moreover, the bars have a good "snap" to them when you bite down. The bars are divided into 5 rows of 3 squares each. They are easy to snap apart to eat just the right amount. I find that a serving of 3 squares is the perfect size to get my chocolate fix, and that's only 78 calories!I've tried Lindt, Ghirardelli, and Hershey's dark chocolates and this is by far my favorite. The fact that some of the proceeds goes towards helping wildlife is just icing on the cake. All in all... yum!

This chocolate arrived damaged by heat.
The chocolate is fine when it’s in good condition, but nutrition depot did not bother to put ice packs with the chocolate. It was all ruined by the summer heat.

Probably inedible
When I unwrapped the chocolate, it was very soft and had white spots on it. It looked inedible. I threw it out because I couldn't cope with packaging it up for a return.

I have no idea why the ratings for this is so high. Maybe I got a bad bar, but it's terribly gritty as if you are crunching down on fine dirt with your teeth.

12 bars of 72% chocolate despite the title of 88%
I just opened the package, and saw that all 12 bars are 72% almond chocolate. I bought this since it's supposed to be 88%! Very disappointed.
