I ordered two sets, each set has two in them. I put two on the back, and two in the front. I know how much of a pain it can be changing coil springs, so I cheated. I bought the JKS 9605 Upper Shock Mount Kit, and used them on coil over shocks that were supposed to go on the back. I bought a 3/4" drill bit (the size of the bolt on top) to drill out the old shims and reuse them again. I should have bought the 20MM drill bit instead, but I made it work. I took one rubber mounting boot from each of the old front shocks, cut it in half with a Cuto Bread knife (I find spraying it with belt dressing lubricates it and made the cutting a lot easier) to cushion the new shocks. The new shocks did not have any new hardware with them, so if your hardware is old and rusty, you will probably want to buy new bolts. To get them on the front I used my ball joint press to switch the rubber mounts on the ends because Monroe wanted the shocks mounted a certain way to make them last longer. That took a little time, but the ball joint press and belt dressing spray made the job easier. I had to reuse the old shock lower mounting bracket because the ones for the rear are a different size. The nut on top is a 30MM and I had to remove my air box to get my 30MM wrench in there. A socket was too long because of the brake reservoir. To get the front ones in all of the way, I had to dis-connect the front sway bar, and then the axle came down enough to clear the coil over shocks and the shock mount kit. I had another jack under the axle before, during, and after connecting and disconnect that sway bar. Now that I have replaced all four of them, I have found that my front end is more quite when I turn now. I have a little clicking from the tire rods or track bar, but far less than I did, and the Jeep sits even now. This was all don on a 1986 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer with a 2.5L and 4X4. The whole jeep sits about one, maybe two inches higher and the death wobble just about disappeared. I am sure I just need a new track bar again to fix that, but the coil over shocks with the JKS 9605 Front adapter kit helped that as well. Bumps that used to set if off, do not any more.
