HydroMaster 2 HP Hot Tub Spa Pump Side Discharge 2-SPD 48-Frame LX Motor 240V (Also Replaces Waterway or Aqua-Flo)

A solid built spa pump was my first impression. It’s heavy and a bit larger than the waterway 48 frame it replaced. After getting it installed the L C H that’s on the electrical board in the motor seemed to be backwards because High speed turned out to be low speed and vice-versa. The user guide that came with the motor showed it opposite, so there’s something there to be extra careful of when you install yours. The motor turned out to be about 50% quieter and a good bit stronger than the waterway 48. Hope this review helps!

I ordered 2 pumps as we have vacation rentals and they need to be fixed ASAP. ordered Thursday and this one arrived Saturday! As fast as prime. The Brw Spa Distribution one arrived on Wednesday. That one will sit on the shelf. The pump is quiet. Wiring is a snap. On the plumbing side you want silicone grease. Call plumbers grease at home depot. You will also likely need what I call my hottub pliers - short but wide mouth curved adjustable pliers. Blue handle. I'll take a picture of both when I get back from a wedding.

Works great! I had to search for this a little bit, but you may have to unscrew the pump and rotate it. They ship them turned 90 degrees so they don't break in shipping. It was super easy, you can look and see the 4 screws on the front of the pump that attach it to the motor and remove them and then rotate the pump and then put the screws back in.

Although it was a different manufacturer and model, it fit exactly and was very easy to install, runs quiet.

Received 6/19, unable to test properly due to lacking the cord. On 240v service and using an ammeter, it appears to be functional and is quieter than expected. Pump is larger than the original it replaced (Aqua-Flo Flomaster XP2e), and a good deal heftier. It appears that the driveshaft is enclosed, which solves a very common weakness in these pumps as they age.Update 6/27: Received the correct cable, and after installing this motor the hot tub was running good-as-new within the hour. No leaks, quiet running, and a bit more powerful than the pump that it replaced.I have emailed the seller requesting the proper power cord, and will update this review once I get the motor installed in my Aquaterra Vitale spa and can test for a few days.The pump shipped promptly, and was well packaged.UPDATE 4/10/2020The motor seized up a few days ago. I contacted the manufacturer and it is out of warranty. A year and a half is a pretty crappy lifespan for a 200+ dollar hot tub motor. Updated rating to 2 stars, because for that year and a half it did work quite well.

Product works awesome. Straight swap

The media could not be loaded.  Failed after 5 hours of use. Water running out of both ends of the motor. Hopefully just a bad manufacture, we'll see as I've ordered another unit. Returns are not as smooth as some.
