Loki Agent of Asgard 1: Trust Me

How to market a villain…
With his wild popularity in the Marvel film universe (yeah, I’m in Loki’s Army), it wasn't a surprise that Marvel’s publishing arm would try to capitalize on the character. The tricky part was how to center a comic series on the “bad guy” without selling the character out. Loki himself said it best: “I’m not evil. I’m complicated.” (Amazing Spider-Man 503).Loki is certainly Thor’s nemesis, but over the course of comic history he has sided with the heroes on more than one occasion when it was in his best interests. After being reincarnated as a child in Journey into Mystery, Gillen aged Loki up to the twenty-something star of his own series. He’s working for the All-Mothers of Asgard in exchange for having sins wiped from his history. Though one sin can’t be so easily wiped - this Loki murdered his younger self to take his place. That bit of darkness hangs over what are other-wise snarky and light-hearted stories. He saves Thor from an evil that is poisoning him (and just what that poison is blew me away!); he meets a girl, while speed-dating no less, who can see through any lie; he sings to himself in the shower. This Loki is fun, clever, and doesn't take anything too seriously. Just what you’d imagine the Trickster we know would have been like as a teenager. What I liked best about the series is that, even though the stories appear light weight, there are some clever, deep threads woven through that really make Loki shine. He’s not a hero and his greatest enemy has always been himself. This isn't the film Loki, but it is definitely Loki. Will he go back to the dark side? Has he always been there? I can’t wait to see how these questions get answered. Highly recommended!

Quick Delivery
So, I am definitely happy with this order. It arrived a lot quicker than I expected. Made the wife happy as this was a gift for her.

Fun and quirky
Granted, this series owes a debt to a certain actor who has become synonymous with the character of Loki (*cough* Tom Hiddleston*). The reborn mischief maker is working for the All-Mother, so he has to curb his urge for total badness. Sort of. Of course, in issue #1, he has to run across the Avengers to get his assignment done.Loki also gets the kind of art treatment that used to be reserved only for female characters in comics: a shower scene.Someone at Marvel is aware that "fangirls be buyin'." Don't let this bit of fan service dissuade you from reading it, however. The funny bits really are funny, with the kind of snappy dialogue that you would expect to hear flying out of Hiddleston's mouth on-screen. So far, the book is a fun and quirky little read, and I hope there's more good stuff to come.

ReadingBifrost Review
Kid-Loki from Young Avengers is back, and now he’s all grown up! The trickster god is working for the All-Mother to rid himself of his past sins and become one of the good guys. Don’t worry though, he’s still a conniving trickster carried on from Kieron Gillen’s writing. As much as I really wanted to love this comic, I can only say I “liked” it. Loki’s character is top notch; sassy, sarcastic, and tricky. But the story line is jumpy and usually refers to a different comic in the Marvel-verse for cross-refrences to key points in the story. It feels like this comic just has a supporting role instead of it’s own leading role. The art is fantastic. There are some wonderful characters with very expressive designs which is essential to me when reading graphic novels.Overall, I recommend this to anyone who is already reading Mighty Avengers, Thor, etc..

Great comic but poor shipping and handling
It's an amazing comic and I absolutely love it! Loki is hot and younger and less evil, although he does look like Harry Styles lol. The comic was great, as was the story but the only thing I can complain about is the state of the book. It was a new book but the upper left hand corner where the spine is was bent. It wasn't that bad but I was disappointed. It's a 5 star comic but I give it a 3 star shipping and handling.

Hope there's more coming
Interesting premise and fun stories. Loki's still a sneaky bastard but all in a good cause. Disappointed and a little shocked at the end of the last story but talking online with a friend made it a bit easier. This just wasn't enough and I need closure so there'd better be further adventures comiing

so I thought this might be a good way to start
I just got started reading comics and this was the first Marvel one I have picked up. I was first interested in the Thor and Loki story lines because of the movies, so I thought this might be a good way to start.I really enjoyed this one. It is funny, witty, and kept my attention the entire time. I just wish I didn't have to wait for the next one to be released now!

Great comic!
I love the tales of Young Loki! Old Loki was getting to be rather stale, trite and kind of predictable. This kid is really full of sass, spunk, and just wants to create mischief. Preferably of the non deadly kind. I can't wait until I get the second issue! And bringing OLD Loki back, just when we thought we were rid of the schmuck, is bound to cause havoc. The All Mothers need their heads examined!

Terrible quality. Good comic
It came very damp and bent up. The pages are damaged with either water or tea. It looks like somebody stole it from a library. Not happy. The story and art is great, I usually get them from forbidden planet... but it was sold out. The character designs, the jokes, the appearance of villains from other comics was awesome.

Looking forward to volume 2
I am a bit of a loki fan girl and I was really happy to get this earlier than expected, the delivery was fast and when the book came it was pristine, I am really happy that I bought the book, especially since it centres more on mythology, which is really interesting, a lot of it is set in the past and by the end you can't help but feel sorry for Loki. I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested in starting reading comics, since it's actually the first series I've read

Very entertaining
I love getting these comics in these book forms, instead of the single issues. The story is so much easier to follow this way.Great book! Probably the best Loki character design. The male and female Loki looks are believable as being the same person.Good narrative. Easy to follow and entertaining.

ottima lettura
