The Further Adventures of a London Call Girl

Spoiler Alert!
I should have read the books before watching the show but I'm honestly glad I didn't. I ordered the books for $0.01 and paid $3.99 for shipping. I was given NO tracking information and each book took 2-3 weeks to arrive. At that point I'd finished the TV series and dove right into the books. Her encounters are entertaining and you can tell she was born to be a writer. SPOILER ALERT: If you're curious about the girl behind "Belle" then look up Brooke Magnanti. If you don't want to know then don't look and you can't say it spoiled anything for you. Whether or not you believe everything she wrote, it's still worth a read.

A little dull, misses the point (warning, spoilers below)
(Please note, some spoilers)Very early on in this follow-up to 'The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl', Belle quits the agency, becoming a plain old London Girl, rendering the title somewhat of a misnomer. This would not be so bad, as Belle's observations on life and men are often quite witty and shrewd and make for more-or-less entertaining reading. I felt that I respected her and enjoyed her company. However, my opinions of her changed dramatically in this book. Readers of the previous may recall her ne'er do well boyfriend, whom was portrayed as a childish, oafish buffoon. At the end of the last book, readers were led to believe that Belle had finally dumped him and moved on to better things. Alas, the majority of this book is spent with Belle pining over him and her feelings for him as he attempts to ingratiate himself back into her life, despite her complete awareness of how big a tool he is as he carries on multiple affairs with other women. Ultimately, Belle's out-of-character moaning and whining made me lose the previous respect I had for her and any interest in her story. I regret buying this book.

London
Belle turns to the camera and says, "Sex is really a numbers game. Group sex is complicated, but that's mechanics. For me, the hardest numbers have always been one plus one. Can never seem to make them add up." If that voice sounds familiar, it's because you heard Carrie Bradshaw use it in every episode of Sex and the City. The show also uses London in somewhat the same way Sex and the City used New York -- we see a lot of bright lights, fancy restaurants, and expensive apartments -- though there is a sadder, more wistful quality to the photography here, as if Belle were living in a kind of London fog, which, of course, she is.

Falls short of the original title, Secret Diary Of A Call Girl
In my opinion, this book wasn't as entertaining as the first one. I found myself struggling to pay attention to it and it took me WAY longer to read than other books.

Ok
I liked the first 'The Intimate Adventures Of A London Call Girl' by Belle de Jour a lot better. I was quite disappointed in this.

Just as I hoped!
Besides being predictably hilarious and surprisingly informative, this book arrived quickly and in wonderful condition. I couldn't be happier. Belle serves as a witty, stylish, and intelligent guide to London and tells us just enough about her life to keep us wanting more.

Brilliant!
I thought this book was brilliant, it's has everything 'belle-esquie' about it!I'm toying wither i find this better than the first one, it has a totally different approach than the first so they are strikingly different, yet i found this one just as good. The first book did very well to shock and make you think and try identify with her. This one is somewhat a view into her real life and how she feels and is alot more human in it's approach, especially how it explains human relationships, opinions and train of thought. It was very eye opening and really enjoyable, it's full of her dry humor and personality which is refreshing compared to other books and i found myself really pulled into her life and found myself saying "Belle what are you doing?!?" alot. It may not be as shocking and fast pasted as the first but is alot more approachable and enjoyable and i think it is brilliant writing how she manages to describe life from a fly on the wall perspective. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone, even if you haven't read the first one (allow i would if were you) to read this because it is a brilliant book that you can have read in 3 weeks if you don't have alot of time on your hands. I don't know why people say it was bad or give it bad reviews, it's just very different from the first is all.

Having read her first book about a London call girl I thought I'd give this one a try. Not as much sex in it as she quits her job but it still very sexy. Hope she writes more as they are an eye opener!
