Excellent condition
I had this book for years and misplaced it, so I was happy to be able to find a copy for sale. Much better shape than advertised. Thank you!

impractical, unattractive, and too focused on worsted weight
The physical quality and the delivery expert of this book were both great. Five stars to those. However the content of the book is very disappointing. Most of the patterns are for worsted weight yarn, which any crocheter knows is unlikely to create finer or snug socks anything like those one would find in a store. My first ever, beginner level sock pattern (not from this book) was DK weight and those were nice though a little on the bulky side. So worsted weight is even more so, and unnecessarily bulky. I would say about 2-3 of the 15+ patterns in the book are actually practical! The rest are decorative and pretty silly looking (maybe at some point in the 19080s or 1990s they would have been slightly hip? Not even sure about that though). The directions on the patterns are clearly written.

Easy to read instructions
If any of you crocheters have a hard time understanding directions and you want an easy to understand pattern-this is for you!! I have made one pair and now I'm hooked. Beautiful book!

Too Bulky
The patterns are cute and easy enough to make but they are better used as slipper socks than socks. Crochet is really too bulking and stiff for socks. And it just doesn't provide the stretch you need for socks. If you want socks you can wear with your shoes, stick to knitting. If you want to use them as slippers they are fine. Just add some puffy paint or caulk to the bottoms so they are not to slippery on hard floors.

Doesn't work for me
I tried various patterns in this book, but just couldn't get a wearable sock :( Which is a shame, as I would love to combine crochet and socks. I have gone looking for other patterns elsewhere on Ravelry. As already mentioned this is a VERY thin book for the cost - more like a booklet than a book.

colourful
Seems there must be an awful lot of people with skinny feet out there!

Fun!
My children are terrified they'll be inflicted with embarrassing home-made socks but these are fun and if you pick your yarn right they'll be acceptable for any age group. Clear instructions & 'how to' diagrams.
