The Slow Awakening a Ten Star Review
Another awesome and totally absorbing story by an author who has no equal. I wish I could share this woman's work with everyone. I have been reading and re-reading her stories for years. As you are reading, it is so easy to envision the story. No need to tell you about this story. Just trust me and jump right in and enjoy becoming immersed in this amazing story from one of the World's greatest story tellers.

Good story
I love Catherine Cookson’s writing. I have read quite a few of her books and intend to get through her entire list. This story just didn’t captivate me the way most of hers do, so I cannot say that this is a favorite.

The Slow Awakening
This was a very good read, about young Kirsten McGregor, who had lost both parents to the fever as a young child. Sold as a 12 year old, for $2 to Hop Fuller, a devious and sex obsessed tinker, he uses Kirsten first as a skivvy, then for sex. She becomes pregnant, and ---the story starts from the time she delivers her son.told with all Catherine Cookson's writing skill, an exciting plot develops, and Kirsten undergoes many good and bad things to finally reach the end of the book.

Slow Awakening slow indeed....
I purchased two of Catherine Cookson's books because we enjoyed the Television Productions of three of her books. The books i chose were so dull, so boring and took forever to finish. I always finish a book, no matter how dreadful it is, always hoping it might improve somewhere along the way.

it was a good story
rather dramatic making it unbelievable, and the ending got a bit sappy and "girly". This is not my normal choice of book so that may be why I am a bit hard on it as others seemed to give raving reviews.

River gone wild
The story kind of begins on a hopeless note of a helpless girl who is rescued from a roaring river and then begins the web's of human wickedness until the river has its way. Not her best but still a good read
