As with the First Edition this Book is Superb and worth every Cent. These books are the Bible of Waffen SS History . I Highly recommend buying the complete series for any Historian,Collector or avid reader .

This book is a one of a three-part series. I find it to be a great reference piece for all serious beginner and advance collector of the Third Reich military. I feel that this book and series is an outstanding reference book showing nice clear photographs and descriptions. Over all a good investment series to have on the uniforms of the Third Reich, or anyone that's interested in the ever changing German military uniforms The Reich.

There are few references that are this good, and I own all three volumes. Although they are expensive, there is no substitute for the photos.

Like the other books in this three-part series, this will be a go-to reference piece for a generation. This is an outstanding book that is a true investment grade work. Buy the hardback version while you can - highly recommend this one to any Waffen SS collector or for those interested in uniforms and equipment of the average soldat in the Reich.

Superb Book

I've purchased all three volumes of the author's Uniforms of the Waffen-SS. The painstaking research and detail concerning the origin and uses of the myriad uniforms is superb. The photographs of both original uniforms and their contemporary settings are worthy of the purchase price alone (the volumes are not cheap, but certainly value for money).My only gripes (and they are very few) concern accuracy when describing SS ranks to what actually appears in the photograph - so for example, an SS Obergruppenfuhrer's photograph is wrongly referred to as "Generaleutnant der Waffen-SS", when it should be "General der Waffen-SS" (the British and US rank equivalent is actually lieutenant general). There are a number of these inaccuracies in the various volumes.My other gripe would be to explain what the various medals and badges are on the many uniforms - SS sports medal in gold (which I'd never seen before), Wound Medal in black, etc.And whilst we occasionally get potted histories of the various uniform original owners, it would have been better to have that level of detail as standard. I appreciate easier said than done.Overall, Mr Beaver's three volume collection is both beguiling and informative. Thank you to him.
