Yes, there is a tie behind the neck and a tie at the waist.

Q: I normally wear between a 3x-4x, will a 5x be to big? I cannot find any 4x

I also wear 3x-4X, the 5x is pretty big but I also find it very comfortable because of all the room. I personal used it as a Halloween costume Had no issues with it dragging on the ground or getting caught on things

It ties, not snaps, and it can open front or back, depending how you wear it..

Q: Just how big is this? I'm 5'5" with a 52" bust with 56" hips.. I want one that fits but don't want to swim in it either!

I wore mine at my appointment yesterday. I wear a 3X for a top and a 4X for pants. I am about 5'3". I wanted this big enough so I could wear it with the opening in either the front or the back, and not show any skin around the opening. This works perfectly. I tend to wear my clothes a little on the loose side, but for something like this, loose is a bit better than a correct fit.
