Naiv. Super. (Norwegian Edition)

Nice sized book. Lots of information too.
I attached a photo of the book on an end table. This is a nice sized book, you can see that there is a cordless phone and an Echo device, and a guitar pick to give you a sense of the size. It's not your typical paperback book.I haven't read much yet, as I'm still taking an online class in norsk (Norwegian - bokmal). Just so you know, there is a sidebar for many words you may not learn in a class like I'm taking. And a bonus - there is a huge dictionary translating Norwegian to English in the back of the book.I've read nothing but good reviews on this book, so I'm looking forward to not only practice my reading of another language, but the story line as well.As you may have read, this book is written in a simple manner as not to intimidate a person new to norsk.Takk for din tid!(Thanks for your time!)

Fun book.
This is a bit too advanced for my Norwegian, but I'll get there. I understand quite a bit, but would struggle if I didn't have a native Norwegian speaker to help me. The author's writing style is very well suited for those of us learning Norwegian.I think I am going to buy the English translation and read that first, because it's so interesting, and it will help me read this original Norwegian version.

Naiv. Super by Erlend Loe
The book arrived promptly and was in excellent condition. I did notice, however, that my copy has a lot of unnecessary hyphens in the English words in the dictionary part. The story texts seem to be fine. We are using this book in an intermediate Norwegian class. It is most helpful to have word translations on the side of the page, making the flow of reading easier for the students so they don't have to flip to and from the dictionary in the back of the book all the time.

Update: Pages 207-235 are part of the original story
Update: See author's note below. The pages referred to in my initial review are part of the original Norwegian text and not an error. I'm updating my rating and leaving this here in case others are also confused."This is a great concept and I was very much looking forward to reading this book. Unfortunately, pages 207 - 235 of the story are missing and replaced by computer print-outs"

Deceptively Simple
Simple language, but big ideas. Norwegian help-text is just right.

simply super
I read this book in it's original Norwegian as part of my 4-semester Norwegian class... we were assigned about one chapter a week, and the rest of the class took half the semster to read it, I finished it immediately because I couldn't put it down. Then I read it again. The language is easy, that's Loe's style (and it's a great benefit for non-native Norwegian speakers), but I think it makes his point that much more poignant. Yes, there are a lot of disillusioned twenty-somethings out there these days, it's not a question of whether the protagonist is special or not, the very point is that he is NOT. The question is, what is he going to do about it? What's next? Well, read the book, in Norwegian if you can, and think about that for your self. If nothing else, it is pretty entertaining and funny too, as well as being a work of modern philosophy!
