My First Book of Quantum Physics (My First Book of Science)

This is Not Just for Kids!
I adore this book. The author's stated age range is "8 year old (and their parent)". I was skeptical of a book introducing such a complex subject to such a young target age, but a number of reviews stated how a parent bought this book for their child and ended up liking it themselves. And I didn't mind the cute artwork.A really big plus for me is that the theories are explained in words. I have what they used to call dysgraphia, I think think there's a different name now, where my brain seen numerals in the wrong order. The do give the actual mathematical formulas at the end. Which brings me to the two quibbles I have. The first, sometimes white type is on a light background, making it hard to read. Second, at the end of the book, it would have been helpful to explain what each of the symbols stood for, and how do you say it out loud. If you can. Eee equals em cee squared. Even if you don't know what it means, you can say it.This book is a good buy, it really gives a window into a complex subject.

Nice summary of advanced concepts
I bought this for my 8 year old daughter, and while I needed to further explain some of the formulas and more advanced concepts, there was enough simplicity so that she could understand a good portion of it. I would recommend a college-level science/physics background for parents who purchase this for their younger children.

Excellent
A wonderful introduction to quantum and sub-atomic physics in a picture-book format. The text is clear and easy to read. The pictures and drawings are fun. As a scientist myself I found things I didn't know before. The topic of wave-particle duality was particularly well-treated. You can read through the whole book in an hour or less, but slow down and take some time for the ideas to sink in. For those more mathematically inclined, some of the equations appear at the end of the book. Probably best suited for young adults at the middle school level and above.

Great starter book
My son is 11 - he states it is a very good book to get started with quantum physics, but wishes it had more content. He enjoyed the artwork and the humorous side of the text.

Delighted my child
I got this for my 9 year old on his birthday. He had requested a quantum physics book (but wasn’t ready to dig into an actual textbook). He was shocked to get it and has been enamored with it since. He really appreciates the mix of diagrams and text.

Pretty good
Takes a difficult subject and handles it about as well as it can be handled for the age range.

Maybe you're not smart enough.
I feel like the adults reviewing this book going, "this is far too difficult for a child; even I, an adult, don't understand it!" should probably take some time to reconsider just how much smarter than a child they are. There used to be a show Called, "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?", and the answer to that question was frequently "No."Just saying...

interesting book
Parents should read this book with children together in order to complete your knowledge of physics.

Divulgación asequible
Imprescindible para introducir a un niño o a un adulto sin conocimientos previos al fascinante mundo de la física cuántica.
