Target Exclusive 1:18 scale remote control boat

Cheaply Made
I wanted something for the pool. I have the full-size version of this boat that we use for the lake. I thought a mini version would be great. But the company that made this went out of business. Now I see why. The remote would not work. It would run for about a second and then disconnect. Also the plastic hull kept filling up with water. I returned it.

Great for kids at the right price
I bought this boat to use in the pool with my 3.5 yr old son. For that purpose, it is really good:- It is quite slow, less than 2mph- It has simple controls - fwd/reverse, and a rudder left/right.- The rudder can be trimmed from a control on the boat - so you can set the boat to go straight or in circlesIt's the low speed which makes this particularly suitable for my son, he can just put it in forward, crash into the side of the pool and it is durable enough to withstand this. The boat does take on water into its hull, however the electronics and batteries are all lifted clear, and the amount it takes on is not enough to cause any damage when using it over a 15 min period. The whole top of the boat lifts off, making it easy to empty and dry out. However I would be reluctant to use this in saltwater. This also means you need to lower the boat into the water carefully, as putting it in bow or stern first will take on more water. The single prop + rudder means that this boat does not turn in reverse, and actually when reversing it will go in circles because of the "prop walk". This has not caused us any lack of enjoyment.I'm giving this 4 stars because of good value (I purchased in Target for $25, reduced from $30) and because it's good for how I use it. I think if you wanted this for more serious RC fun it might be a disappointment. Great for kids though!
