Well made, gread features. Audio suffers.
Installation was straightforward. Instructions were clear. My helmet was "Bluetooth ready" and has recesses for the speakers.I ended up using the thickest spacers behind the speakers. Everything fit in the helmet well. I put the control unit on the left side and the battery on the back. I installed the mic just to the left of center on the mouth guard of my full-face helmet. The unit has a lot of functions and features so learning the button presses and combinations can take some time.I made a phone call while on the road. At 70 mph, the party on the other end could hear some wind noise but my voice overpowered the noise. On my end, wind noise made him barely legible. When I turned up the volume, his voice became distorted. I can't really blame this on the 10r. Wind noise will overpower anything.I was unable to test the intercom because my wife's helmet is an older one and wasn't Bluetooth ready. For music, anything over 60 mph was almost unusable. I tried both the built-in FM and music from my phone and the results were similar. Wind noise overpowered the music. All in all, the unit has a ton of built-in features and functions. It's well made, easy installation and low-profile and unobtrusive. In that respect I give it 5 stars. I'm giving it 4 stars because of the audio; features and functions are useless if you can't hear anything.==========================Update:I purchased a new helmet for my wife and got the unit installed so I was able to test the intercom. A couple things I really like about this unit:1) It powers on quickly.2) It connects to my phone almost instantaneously. Very little delay.3) If it's paired with another unit, it won't say anything when you turn it on unless is't UNABLE to connect to the the other unit. Otherwise, it's automatically connected. In music sharing mode, going between music and intercom is painless. A single tap to the middle button goes to intercom. Then a long press of the middle button starts the music sharing. (You have to have a music app with a playlist cued up). From there, a single tap of either middle button puts it in intercom mode. When finished, a single tap of either middle button puts it back in music mode. After a day of using it, we got home and I decided to do some troubleshooting because others have reported how loud it was. That just wasn't my experience. What I found was, the recesses in my helmet for the speakers did not line up with my ears! I had to move the speakers about 3/8" forward and slightly down. It made a world of difference in the volume! I haven't checked it out on the road yet but I'm guessing it'll make a difference having the speakers directly over my ears. I'm sure I'll still have wind noise but having the speakers right over my ears should be quite an improvement.Pros: Extremely capable; tons of features.Relatively easy to installHands off for basic operation. Turn it on and use it.Quick power-on and pairingRelatively unobtrusive.Cons: Speakers distort at higher volumes. Have to turn the bass way down. Some features/functions can be confusing

Good product, impossible directions...
We just used these for a 1300 mile ride. Sometimes they worked really, really well. Sometimes, for no apparent reason, the wind noise was really bad. The instructions are VERY challenging, especially when trying to pair 4 together. Still haven't figured it all out, but it was nice to be able to talk for things like changes in plans/directions.

Not worth the price
First off- the cost of this is way more than what it's worth. It's 2020 you would think that something like this would be easier, cleaner and simpler to install. Music feature is awful due to sound quality. Music sounds low even with volume all the way up. All the noise around you will overpower music. So forget about listening to tunes while riding. Honestly other riders are hard to understand so pointless to have a conversation while riding. Honestly not worth the price. Convenient? Yes! Worth it? Hard no!

I wanted to be able to share music with my girlfriend and be able to talk to her on long rides.
The buttons are hard for me to feel through my gloves. I wanted to be able to share music with my girlfriend and be able to talk to her on long rides. It does that admirably.

Expensive but well worth it
Little brassy sounding when the volume is turned all the way up (only way to hear it over my pipes), and it's a little pricey but other than that no complaints. Battery life is great, connects to my phone and other headset just fine, and make my ride a little more enjoyable.

Worth the money
Great way to communicate with my 12 year old son while riding. It takes his anxiety away as he is learning to ride

It fits and does the basics
Bought this unit because the cardo speakers didn't fit my helmet. The sound quality on these Sena speakers isn't very good, but it is good enough. The unit allows me to play music and be in contact with my wife on her bike while we are riding, which is all I need. She can listen to her own music at the same time as well. Very enjoyable experience, though the sound quality and feature list of things unit is lacking behind the cardo

hands free functionality and low profile.
I researched for months before selecting these Sena 10R-01D low profile Bluetooth and haven't been disappointed. They work great in our Scorpion helmets and my wife and I can now listen to music or talk while we cruise.

Overpriced but works
Get the negative out the way first. It's overpriced. I would have thought about £250 for the pair, and even at that it would not be cheap. The cost is why I have not given 5 stars. But they work. I have tried cheap ones, and decent motorola walkie talkies but the cheap ones are poor, and while walkie takies have much better range, they either use VOX which can be operated by wind noise/ doesn't work because of wind noise or need to use a PTT switch - another bit of wire to thread through clothing to the handlebars.Whats good:* Once you switch on, select intercom, that's it. Just ride and talk when you want. There is no delay or missed words like you often get with VOX on radios. When talking it is synchronous Just like normal everyday chat where you can both talk at the same time without 'handover'(unlike radios where only one can talk at a time.) This may have a slight downside when my son starts cursing car drivers who don't seem to seem to see motorbikes!)* Battery life seems excellent and lasts for 4 hour rides no problem. Looking at charging time afterwards I would fiully expect it to last all day without issues.* range is surprisingly good, we estimate at least 400 or 500 metres on open roads on our rides. Subject of course to line of sight which affects all and any bluetooth device, although we did find it worked ok with some tree obstruction (on tree lined bends in the road.) Range may be more but that is what we found on our actual rides.* connecting to phone is straightforward and works just as you would expect. Suggest setting phone to auto answer when bluetooth connected. Intercom is instantly disconnected when phone answers so best to agree between riders that intecom will disconect without warning.* completely hands free in use if you set intercom before you start and phone to auto answer* fitting in our helmets was laborious but straightforward. We found there were actual 'holes' in the shock padding especially for the earphones, so no extra bulk. The laborious bit is threading the cables and connectors which involves some carefully un-pinging of the helmet liners.* everything is self contained on the helmet. Nothing through clothingNot so good:* fitting the mike can be a problem. There are 2 supplied, a small button mike for enclosed helmets and a boom mike for open. I needed the boom mike and it was a bit of experimenting to a) get it to the correct length so just in front of my mouth (needed to put 1/2 the flexi boom into the liner) and b) losing the cable and connectors in the liner. My son has an enclosed flip helmet and the button mike would be ideal except the cable was way too short for the flip, so he also had to use the boom. None of this was a show-stopper but as mentioned took some messing around.* not possible to switch between helmets if you have more than 1. You would need another kit* If I did want to use more functions such as media from my phone then I would suggest the optional handlebar remote control was near essential as the helmet buttons can be used with thinner gloves but could take one hand off the bars for noticeable time? Not tested:* the FM radio, streaming music. As bikers know we have to keep our wits about us 'cos we seem to be invisible or really irritating to many car drivers (I go out dressed like a canary but I still seem to have an invisibility cloak!) In traffic I personally didn't want the distraction. Additionally in UK DAB is so much better than FM. I also don't know how the FM radio and intercom interact.* range around town. This is not a criticism of this manufacturer as all bluetooth devices are pretty much line of sight. We mainly use out bikes for outing and around town only when necessary. In our limited town use 'canyon effect' of buildings reduced the range accordingly.* haven't tested with multiple ridersWill we keep them? Most definitely. Good communications when biking are very useful with time to time information ('your indicator is still on', 'turning left at next junction' etc) but most importantly they transform a trip out into a social event rather than just 2 people on bikes going the same way.

Great communication device!
Great unit, really clear sound and very compact! Pleasantly surprised how well the noise suppression worked on the mics. One downside is it's a fit faffy and can be quite temperamental when initially pairing via intercom.Would recommend!
