Product description Saffron is a spice derived from the flower of Crocus sativus, commonly known as the "saffron crocus". The vivid crimson stigmas and styles, called threads, are collected and dried to be used mainly as a seasoning and colouring agent in food. Saffron, long among the world's most costly spices by weight. Saffron's taste and iodoform or hay-like fragrance result from the chemicals picrocrocin and safranal. It also contains a carotenoid pigment, crocin, which imparts a rich golden-yellow hue to dishes and textiles. The saffron is carefully harvested using old traditional methods. All the saffron stigmas are handpicked carefully, and only the best stigmas are selected for selling. Natural and strong taste. Colour Due to the high quality of our Saffron, the colouring strength is very high. You have to use very little to achieve good colouring. In comparison to other spices or dried foods, the nutrient content of dried saffron shows richness of nutritional value across B vitamins and dietary minerals (table). In a serving of one tablespoon (2 grams), manganese is present as 28% of the Daily Value while other nutrients are negligible (table). Taste The taste is strong and explosive. Grind and soak a small quantity of saffron in hot water. Because of the supreme quality you only need a small amount. Smell The best way to describe the smell is once you have received your saffron, please open the box and just smell it. Its amazing :-) Very strong smell of the flower. Odourless and tasteless
I have been buying Saffron for sometime, and found there is a lot of fake Saffron out there! Although nicely presented, I found this Saffron both odourless and tasteless. It may well be a type of Saffron I have not encountered before, but if you can not taste much there is little point in purchasing it. Ended up sending it back.

Poor quality saffron. Bad packaging.
Very little flavour. Cheap saffron dressed up to look pretty. Absurd packaging that is difficult to open without spilling. Lid is metal bonded to plastic so totally non-recyclable.

Great Tasting Notes
I am not sure why there is such a range of reviews, the one I received was hitting all the tasting notes of saffron; semi-sweet and honey-like, it's added a punch of flavor to my dishes, love putting it in the rice, its always a bit of a surprise to dinner guests, and much more economical than buying at Tesco's

lovely product, beautiful presentation
I am really pleased with this saffron purchase. The product is of a good quality and i love the little tin it comes in. Unlike some reviewers i find accessing the tin very easy and so have kept it in there. I would recommend this product and will buy it again.

Good quality saffron
This saffron is much better than another one I bought from amazon. I use it to make tea and this saffron was more expensive for slightly less but is such obviously higher quality that I'm very happy with it. Although the presentation tin is nice, I'd be happy with it in a little tub and have in fact transferred it into the container from the previous saffron.

Full of flavor!
Used it for my famous zaffron cake, the taste was perfect! I also use it to add flavor to my tea and the trick is to let it rest in warm water and then add it to the final recipe. Works like magic!

Best saffron we have tried so much better than the ...
Best saffron we have tried so much better than the supermarket saffron you get in jars. Long deep red strands - producing a wonderful golden colour when infused with hot water. very flavoursome and aromatic - highly recommended. Beautifully presented in presentation tin. Will buy again
