What a great Reissue is suppose to look like
This box set contains the first 5 albums from England's Orange Goblins issue by British record label Rise Above (originally issue in North America by the now defunct The Music Cartel).1997-Frequencies from Planet Ten1998-Time Travelling Blues2000-The Big Black2002-Coup De Grace2004-Thieving from the House of GodAll the albums have same track listing as the initial releases and mostly unaltered original artwork as well as all the original lyrics, liner notes and thank you's.What's new you ask!?!?!Each of 5 albums contains 3 bonus tracks consisting of:Tribute songs (cover songs)Live versionsDemos andAlternate versionsYou also get addition liner notes from each member of the band on the making of the records (I learned there was a lot of drinking involved!)Each disc is package in digipack case and house in (thin) cardboard slip case (would have prefer a stronger grade of material but it's minor complaint) and you even get a iron-on patch as a extra bonus. In summary:5 discsOriginal music, artwork, lyrics and liner notes3 bonus tracks per discNew liners notes from each band member per discOrange goblin patchCome in cardboard slip caseAll in all a great set I would highly recommend to any Orange Goblin fan whether you own all of the original releases or none of them. It's a well made package that's treats the band and their music with the respect it deserves. Enjoy!

Does not include their latest CD/DVD - Get that one too!!
There is really not a bad album in the bunch. I got turned onto these guys by a circuitous path that involved a thank you on the sleeve of an Alabama Thunderpussy album (Fulton Hill I think). Since then, it has become clear that these are not only some stand up guys but that they love what they are doing. Due to the fact that some of the early stuff (which you definitely want) is hard to find, I would recommend this box set over buying any one single album. Having been a Sabbath, COC, Kyuss, DOWN fan for years - I have no idea why it took me so long to hear about these guys?!

pure awesome
I discovered this band a little over a year ago. They are deff one of the greatest things ive ever heard musically. they remind me of a mixture of deep purple, black sabbath and white zombie. i know, not really a compatible mix, but its perfect. to get 5 of their remastered recordings for so cheap is almost a crime! a crime worth committing lol. i would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a modern band that has seamlessly revived the old metal sound.

My favorite new band
I purchased this set to check out the opening band for Clutch before I saw them. This set is awesome. Think COC/Monster Magnet sandwich with a whole lotta Black Sabbath gravy on top. I can't get enough! Time Travelling Blues is my fav album in this set!!

Fiendish Fun
Some really interesting stuff from the UK. They don't do anything amazing but it's all just so much fun. A solid collection for new fans like myself!

This stuff is out there!
If you sleep under a rock maybe you've never heard of these guys? However if you grew up listening to Sabbath and need more of that style of music to get your fill, here you go!I can never get enough of this kind of music, it's just the style that really floats my boat. Knuckle dragging fun at it's best. Lot's of feel and great grooves. If you've never heard or bought any Orange Goblin before, you really only need to start here.Seriously, check these guys out. They have boatloads of groove going on and it's just a fun listen. The is a great box set by the way as it's got everything you need and more.Do yourself a favor and check it out!

A real bargain if you can find it at the right price! The first 5 Goblin albums in a neat little pack, 4 out of 5 ain't bad!
I think it'll be better if I review all the albums separately. This is Orange Goblin's first 5 albums in a box set, but also have their own individual cases. (NOTE : This does not contain any of the Split EP's they did with Alabama Thunderpussy.) If you haven't heard of the Goblin, their sound can be quite accurately summed up as 'Stoner Metal' or a mix of Stoner Rocker, Traditional Metal (Black Sabbath-esque) and Doom Metal, with a smidgen of Punk thrown in occasionally for good measure and quite frequent melodic, tripped-out interludes.1. 'Frequencies From Planet 10.'Goblin's debut '97 album is a real treat. 9 tracks that vary quite greatly in lengths but all encapsulate the band's easily forged core sound. Shifting seamlessly from Kyuss-esque stoner riffery, to galloping Iron Maiden-style palm muted triplets then into very mellow territory, this is a great spin on a now well-established Metal sub-genre.Key Tracks include the aptly titled 'Aquatic Fanatic,' 'Orange Goblin' and the Tolkien inspired 'Saruman's Wish.' As good as this album is, it does get just a little too indulgent at times and the forays into psychedelia grate a little and loses a lot of the album's momentum. The production is great, though the vocals do get a little lost in the mix at times. It features two demo versions of the album's strongest tracks and a Trouble cover '(Black Shapes Of Doom.')Overall : 4/52. 'Time Travelling Blues.'If '...Planet 10' was a brilliant blueprint, this was the real deal. From the colossal opening riff of the fantastic opener 'Blue Snow' all the way to the 'ballad-esque' title track, this is a sound of a band firing on all cylinders refining their promising early sound. The mellow interludes are still there but are kept to a minimum and feel more of an integral part of the songs as opposed to excessive filler, see 'Solarisphere.' The tracks are generally shorter and much more to the point as well. Also features a very accurate cover of Black Sabbath's 'Hand Of Doom.'Overall : 5/53. 'The Big Black.'Definitely my favourite of the 5 and the strongest album in this collection, perhaps only matched by 'Eulogy For The Damned' in the Goblin's back catalogue. OG have left the whole 'running through stoner dasies' thing behind and decided to fully concentrate on the downright dirty riffs...a very good move. The songs are stripped down further still and is up there with one of the best stoner rock / metal albums I've heard. You an choose any track and random and not be disappointed.Although the album's track listing order is incorrect as far as the bonus tracks go you do get a demo version of 'Scorpionica,' 'Quincy The PigBoy' and oddly, two superb versions of Black Sabbath's 'Into The Void.'Overall : 5/54. 'Coup De Grace.'Easily the weakest album here. Although opener 'We Know You're World Will Hate This' is a great, snotty, hardcore-driven song and 'Red Web' has some of the best riffs the band has ever written, it sadly goes all down hill from there pretty badly and filled with tracks that sound like rejects from the albums that preceded it but with a new, more punk sound. There are one or two other decent tracks like 'Getting High On Bad Times' but they are few and far between and just sound very half-arsed somehow. The production is a bit hit and miss as well, with the vocals again suffering the worst. Not even a couple of guest appearances by former Kyuss vocalist John Garcia could prevent this from being a bit of a stinker, which has some of the worst song titles you can imagine ('Monkey Panic'...just,...no!).Also features covers of songs by Motorhead ('No Class'), The Misfits ('We Bite') and Leafhound...who!?Overall : 2/55. 'Healing Through Fire.'Overall : /5The collection as a whole is great, but I see the prices have been bumped up ridiculously on here! I bought this for under £30!All albums come in their own separate case complete with lyric books. If you can find it at a decent price like I did, this is essential Stoner Metal listening, put it on your wishlist and wait...

Great stuff
Fantastic band with great songs. This box is fantastic...the only reason it got 4 and not 5 stars. Is that one of the reviewers say they got a orange goblin patch in the box set.....I did not receive this item in my box

Stoner Rock vom Feinsten
Für Orange Goblin Fans eine wahre Fundgrube unveröffentlichter Songs und eine sehr schöne Zusammenstellung ihrer fünf ersten Alben. Überzeugender zeitloser Stonerrock, der an die Siebziger erinnert. Sehr emfehlenswert.

Found Treasure
Great Box Set for the price , if you don't have any Orange Goblin , this is the set to get.If you like it "stoner" with the likes of FumanChu , QOTSA, Blue Cheer, then add this set to your library. Good selection of extra tracks on each remastered CD , such as covers from ZZtop to Sabbath. Audio quality is average for a remaster.
