Sometimes, the need to crunch just cant be ignored. At The New Primal, the crispy meat conundrum gnawed at us for years. Tenacious in our pursuit to go beyond burnt bacon, we schemed, cooked, and tested like mad snack scientists. Our brand new Beef Thins have the tempting look of jerky and the satisfying crunch of a chip, and are made from 100% grass-fed beef. Each handy bag serves up 13 grams of protein and is Whole30-Approved, Certified Paleo, and Certified Gluten-Free. First of its kind: Snackable Jerky with a CRUNCH! Made with 100% grass-fed beef without the use of antibiotics or added hormones. Includes 8 one-ounce bags of beef thins.

Not necessarily Keto friendly
These are advertised as being crisp or chip-like. They're not. They're thin, chewy pieces of beef jerky that are also weirdly sticky. I didn't pay attention to the carb count when I bought them, thinking they were low carb because they're paleo, but at 8 grams of carbs per serving, they're not that keto friendly. The taste is a little heavy on the coconut aminos, too. More aminos than beef flavor, sadly. Wouldn't buy again.

It's not the length but it's the thickness? I disagree.
Surprisingly good meat for jerky. The strips were longer than they were thick and they had the real consistency - fat and all - of beef. Not that there were big chunks of fat but little strips on the edge were the first I'd seen in a jerky and it was fine, tasted good... just took getting over that hump of deliberately eating fat.I gave 5 overall, broke down into [but does not add up] 5 for flavor, 3 for value (because jerky is inherently expensive, least in all the versions I've seen, and this is no exception), and 4 for thickness... not because it was particularly thick but because it was the right thickness, generally.

Not beef jerky. Insanely overpriced.
I know beef jerky is a fairly healthy snack, and many internet sources were pointing out this brand as being the healthiest jerky out there. I'm extremely disappointed with this product. The crunchiness makes the texture completely different from beef jerky, so it's like trying to eat beef flavored potato chips. They have way too much garlic flavor and I have no idea what makes these ingredients so much better than any other beef jerky. The price is about 3 times as high as most brands so I was expecting something great, but they taste like jerky you'd buy at the dollar store.

Flavor varies by per Lot#?
I have preciosuly tried these in Boise Idaho from the WHOLE foods there. But when I ordered them online from Amazon, it was sickeningly sweet and sort of moist. The ones from Boise were a bit crispy and chewy and the flavor was subtle. I can't even finish the whole bag. Just be careful, and dont expect anything and maybe it will be just what you like this time, however each batch seems different.

Bold claims that aren’t backed up
First off, I was excited to see they use a simple ingredient list (garlic powder, onion powder, and sea salt). With a flavor name like “sea salt” I was expecting a mild flavor with a little saltiness. Instead, the flavor is an extreme, almost overwhelming oniony garlic flavor. It is very sweet as well, which was not a good combination. Also, the bag says “Snackable Jerky with a CRUNCH” yet the pieces were soggy and bendy, with only the corners of some having some “crunch”. For the only packet I opened, the pieces were tough and rubbery and I felt like a dog twisting it’s head around trying to rip off a piece. I bought these in hopes they’d be like Robertson’s beef jerky (from Love’s country store), but they’re more like the Jack’s Links or other brands of bagged jerky with the silica packet in the bag.Last, it seems way too expensive for such a poor product. Even if it were GOOD, the quantity is not enough for the price. At the time of this review, the price is $39.95 for an 8 pack of 1oz bags, a total of 8oz or 1/2 pound. That comes to around $4.99 per ounce. Let’s compare that with what I thought this jerky would be like, Robertson’s. On their website, 1/2 pound or 8 ounces of jerky is $24.99, which comes to around $3.12 per ounce, a cheaper price for a much higher quality product.I would not recommend this, nor will I buy it again.

lost what made it special: not thin / crispy anymore
UPDATEDropped stars because the jerky is now thicker. I have a monthly delivery and the last two deliveries have been hell on my jaw. The beauty of this was the razor thin cuts that gave it phenomenal texture and flavor. Easy to eat and enjoy. Bummed they decided to change that.OLD 5-star REVIEWJust the way jerky should be. Thick jerky gets a soggy flavor and is too tough to chew. This stuff reminds me of what “Enjoy” brand jerky used to be like. I love it so much i bought it on subscription.

A little different than I was expecting
I recently discovered New Primal Jerky and am a huge fan. I need to add something to an order to get same day delivery, and when I saw these, I was excited, as it seemed like a great deal vs buying in store. Admittedly I did not read the page in detail to realize this is not the same as the Jerky. They are Thins with an odd texture, and only 1oz bag vs 2oz that I purchased in store. So these were actually more expensive than the Jerky from the store. And the packaging is not resealable like the store product. So I rarely write reviews, but a word of warning, this looks like a good deal, but make sure you know what you're buying. Still a fan of the company and brand!
