Reliable and good value Curtain Rail
I ordered a replacement Swish rail for my parents room which needed replacing. I may sound too obvious here but do re-measure your existing rail first. I also measured the distance of how far each went bast the window bay. The instructions normally advise between 15 cm - 20 cm depending on the length of the window. While ordering the rail, I also ordered replacement parts i.e. curtain hooks, extra brackets as they always come in handy especially as they can break very easily over time. After the rail arrived (after 2 working days and not using prime), I spent time reading the instructions (which I don't normally do!). My first impression was that there were many sections to follow! However, several of the sections show you how to change the side of the pulley, cut the rail, change how the curtains draw i.e. in 1 direction etc. Overall you only need to follow around 4 sections. The instructions are very clear. If by some reason you lose them, you can download them from the Swish website. If you are replacing an existing Swish rail you should be able to use the same wall brackets. With my parents rail, I had to replace 1 broken bracket which was the end bracket on the side where you pull the cord. The reason why it broke was because when it was originally put the rail up around 15 years ago, there was too much distance from the end bracket to the pulley. So there was great strain when you draw the actual curtains. To be fair the instructions were very vague at the time. However, the rail did last along time! Now they advise that the last bracket closest to the pulley as to be around 2 cm (3/4"). After replacing the broken bracket, I added another bracket closer to the pulley which added more support. Please be aware that if your replacing old brackets, the screws which come with the new brackets are longer. I had to re-drill the depth of the existing hole and add new wall plugs (wall was concrete). After the brackets are in place, you will need to centralise the 2 master carriers. This can be tricky because you need to reduce the slack by gently pulling on the cord. One mistake which I made was losing the loop on 1 of the carriers. I only noticed after I assembled the rail, put up the curtains, pulled the cord and wondered why only 1 side was moving! To re-loop it I had to remove the carrier of the rail then thread the cord through the carrier. I advise to thready a match stick to stop it from happening again. It is very important that when you are adjusting the carriers and reducing the slack that the cord doesn't get twisted as this can easy happen.Overall, as this was my first time putting up the Swish rail, I found it fairly straight forward and the instructions are clear. You do need patience which personally I don't have much off! The next time I know what to look out for. Good luck!

Let the play begin jeeves
Nothing beats an everyday product that is seamless and invisible. It works beautifully and the technology has come a long way in making it easy to install....it did help that the screw holes were exactly in the same place as the old one though.

Doesn't work and beware returns policy of supplier
My son originally tried to fit this for me. The instructions were terrible but eventually he got the rail up and it worked fine until we hung the curtains on it, after which it just jammed all the time and wouldn't pull across. They are just normal, half length curtains with a lining and not particularly heavy. I thought maybe he had done something wrong so I had a local handyman come and try and fit it. After taking it all down, checking everything and making sure the cord ran smoothly, he found that as soon as he hung the curtains, it just wouldn't work and did exactly as before. In the end, he had another rail and fitted that for me.When I tried to return the rail, firstly the company told me to contact the Swish help department and get them to talk me through my issues, which I really didn't want to do as it would involve paying someone again to try and put the rail up, so I requested a return label. It then became apparent that if the item was over 1m, I couldn't use the free return label and would have to get a quote myself. The cheapest one I came up with was £36 and I really don't want to spend any more time or money on this product. I will definitely never buy anything like this through Amazon again!

Disappointing- very poor quality
Starting with the laughably poor and confusing install instructions. Tiny diagrams that are so shrunk, that in most cases you can’t tell what they are illustrating. The actual install part is just a couple or paragraphs, the remainder is about a different model and about changing the control end (good luck if you want to do that, as the diagrams are so tiny they are of no help). Install is quite intuitive and I only really needed the instructions to check I hadn’t done anything stupid as once installed they were totally unusable.I hung the curtains on the hooks, then tried to draw them using the cord. Tried and failed, they were so stiff than I was in danger of breaking the controls.I then checked everything and also looked at minimal instructions to see if I had missed something. I removed the curtains and tried drawing the hooks without them and they operation was still very stiff. The ends did not move smoothly and juddered as they moved along the rails.Next I took the rail down and examined it flat on the floor. Here it became obvious that none of the moving parts ran smoothly on the rails. Add the weight of curtains, an it was little wonder that they wouldn’t close.I was faced with dealing with the return of a 2.5 metre parcel or fixing it myself. I purchased some silicone grease spray and applied it to the length of the rail and to all the moving parts. This has made it usable.
