I had a host type before and I didn't like it. I had all kinds of problems. I looked for a new one and this caught my eye. It was simple, could it really work? Yes it does. It was easy to install and the belts seemed nice and sturdy. I have to admit the first time I used it I hooked the belts up wrong, how I don't know. When I started letting it down the bike flipped upside down. I thought here we go again. I looked at the straps and realized my error. It now works flawlessly. I've used it several times and it's wonderful. I highly recommend it.

Our garage storage space is tight, so hanging the bikes from the ceiling seemed the perfect solution. A lot of the other systems I looked at seemed to have the potential for the bike to come off the attachment hooks .. which wasn't what I wanted. I liked this one, because it used a harness to hold the bike. So far, I'm really happy! Installation was pretty straightforward, which I appreciated. My only concern will be whether the mechanism eventually degrades the rope .. time will tell.

Single hanging pointe allows you to fly your bike right side up and latching mechanism works great. Simple mechanism works similar to blind pull. Pull straight down to raise bike and pull to side to release lock and lower bike. Is rope starts to slip in your hands simply let go and the bike stops. I would recommend using gloves for extra grip on rope.

I mounted a 48" long 2x6 crossways to my garage ceiling joists with LONG bolts into the center of the joists, and then hung 4 bikes using 4 of these harken kits about 12" apart. One is about 8" off the wall. The bikes bump a bit when going up and down, but I like the arrangement. You could go 18" apart and have lots of room. These bolts are fantastic for mounting the 2x6 into the joists: FastenMaster FMHLGM412-50 HeadLOK Heavy-Duty Flathead Fastener, 4-1/2 Inches, 50-Count

I had someone install it with a 2x4 on ceiling and it requires careful movement or it could drop the bike.

I needed a hoist for my Catrike Expedition. None of the other bike lifts I have could be easily configured to work on my heavy trike. The Harken Hoist, plus 4 loop straps make lifting the trike a breeze. Next time I need a bike lift for any of my 2 wheel bikes, I will be buying another Harken Hoist. I don’t have to worry about dropping the bike if the rope slips out of my hands because the hoist is designed to grab the rope when there is no tension on the rope.One word of advice: pay heed to how high you need to lift your bike. The Harken Hoists are sold with only enough rope to reach the height listed on the box. I was not paying attention to this when I ordered it and I lucked out when my required height was exactly 10’.

Product is a bit expensive, but works great

This is a great alternative of having to raise my wheelbarrow up to its ceiling hook by hand! (And back)Replaced existing ceiling hook (located in a stud) with the hook for this system. Now just an easy pull/or release of the rope and up or down it comes.

Use it as a lift for winter tires, works amazingly well.
