Best Door Water Strip I have ever bought.
I am very happy with my purchase, this thing blocks all the water from coming under my door during a rain storm even with driving wind, This got tested during Hurricane Grace.Pluses:Well built out of good metal and a very impressive wide rubber water stop on the bottom that can slide out and be cleaned or replaced.Installation is easy but remember to coat the inner side of the metal strip that face outside with a bead of silicone or caulk. Water will hit the front of the door and drain down under the front metal lip and rot out your doors bottom if you don't use some kind of sealant.Cutting it to size was easy and can be done with a hacksaw or Dremel.Negatives:Paint coating on the metal can chip easier than I expected. I ended up with two 1/8" chip marks on the outside. I touched them up with black paint.Mine did not come with screws but that was an easy fix as I had some in my tool box.Don't see replacement rubber strips online, I would feel better knowing I could buy them.Summary:Overall very happy with the purchase. It looks good and does it's job very well.

Very nice product and easy to install.
I had read a few negative reviews on cutting to size and drip lip being on the inside. I purchased a $10 hacksaw at Ace Hardware and cut an inch off cleanly in five minutes and the drip lip is on the outside if installed correctly. Very nice u sweep bottom and very high quality!

NO thermal break?
This door weather seal is a very well-made item. The product is anodized aluminum 36" in length and MUST be trimmed to fit, if you have other than an exact 36" door, of which there are MANY. If you do not possess the tools, nor the skills required, then you should probably opt for one of the cheap plastic substitutes - this item is designed and manufactured to last a lifetime but it requires SOME handyman skills to install correctly. For example, those complaining about the rubber strips tearing on the unit, obviously, do not understand the need for a PROPER clearance between the bottom of the seal and the door sill/threshold; this is most easily accommodated by an adjustable threshold. If you have too great a clearance = NO adequate seal. If you have too little clearance = abraded rubber strips, often in short order. Proper tools consist of something adequate to cut aluminum: hack saw, Dremel tool, chop saw, etc. and scissors to trim the rubber strip. Some other complaints consist of missing items, e.g. rubber seal, screws, etc. These MAY have been missing from the manufacturer's packaging but my guess is it's more likely a result of a "return" which was "recycled" to another customer, who can be sure? Another couple of complaints refer to an improper fit but, as one reviewer offered, if your wooden door has already taken on water for a protracted period and, thus, has swollen, you won't get this precisely manufactured item to fit - by then it's too late. Some have commented on the product supplied being darker than the picture; this is true, so beware if you want the color in the picture. I find the actual tone to be fairly accurate to what I see advertised as oil-rubbed dark bronze. OK, so now having lauded the qualities of the product and, hopefully, corrected a few misconceptions, here is what I find inadequate in the design of this product: there is NO thermal break to deter FRIGID outside temperatures, experienced in the winter Northeast, from migrating to the inner 3/4" strip of the U-shaped component. On VERY cold days, I have experienced condensation on this interior aluminum strip as the warm interior house heat contacts this cold strip - not very desirable, especially when it is situated above a hardwood floor. The manufacturer should have allowed for this and provided a thermal break in the design. I have installed this setup on an interior-swing atrium door above a M-D exterior threshold, which does incorporate a thermal break for this reason. M-D should have split this component longitudinally into two overlapping aluminum pieces with an insulator between, or, change the design to a L shape rather than a U shape to prevent cold transmission to the interior "U" strip. Otherwise, GREAT product but I have to knock it 1 star and give it a 4 for this reason.

Great Product, Here's the Missing Review Pic
Product works great. Easy to cut and install. I built my own new cellar door and really wanted to know the dimensions of the product before starting work. I could not find them on the product listing, nor could I find it on the manufactures website. So, here you go! Here's to your successful home improvement project!

Time is telling
This door sweep was installed only 5 short days ago, and it seems to be almost a vacuum-seal type of sweep. I suppose that's what we want, no drafts. The house is old; our door is old and somewhat warped, the frame is old and not quite square, the storm door was removed months ago and the interior door has been exposed to wet weather and humidity all summer as well as the last five days. It may be swollen with dampness. We're hoping that the dry, cold months with a new storm door installed will allow the interior door to be opened more easily (maybe after it dries out a bit.) The rain drip edge on the exterior will help if the screen on the new storm door is left open and rain enters between the doors. This is a bit of an unusual situation to be evaluating this product, but I do think it is a good product for the purpose and for the money. It makes the door look finished, inside and out.Fast forward to January 2013. The effort required to open the door has diminished some maybe due to the cold or repeated us. There is still a very substantial seal. But, the finish on the new threshold is wearing away already due to the sweeping action of the door sweep. We used a finish recommended by a professional career painter, so we don't think it's the fault of the finish. It will require re-finishing in the spring--oh joy! Also, the day after Christmas (we had 22 people here for the day) I noticed dripping condensation all along the metal strip on the INSIDE of the room--so much that it required wiping off. In addition, a small section of the underside ribbing began to pull off and required cutting so as not to continue to rip. My fear is that if this sweep doesn't meet expectations in the long run, we have already cut the door on the bottom and may not find another sweep to accommodate the space. Experience is the best teacher!

Commercial grade product!
This is the best I have ever installed on my exterior garage door. Seals perfectly,Very strong, aluminum extrusion not crappy plastic.I didn’t drill pilot holes for screws , just screwed them in the doorThe only trick is cutting to length.A hacksaw will do the job , but I used a zip cut disc on my hand grinder , cut perfectly , file the edges .Great quality productMade in North America too !

Good quality, fits well
I needed to replace my old sweep that fell apart after 20 years. Most of the products out there were cheap plastic. That is why I am pleased with the quality of this product. Very sturdy and looks good on the door

Some installation tips
Tips:- use wire cutters to pinch the metal frame onto the rubber seal insert. See picture attached.- pre-drill the screw holes to help guide the screw, take the extra time because a screw in the wrong place is difficult to fix.- try to cut the metal on the side closest to the door hinges otherwise you may see an ugly cut every time you open the door- where the door meets the frame with hinges, leave some rubber seal protruding out, this helps close any vertical gaps.- uneven floor surfaces mean you will have uneven sweep heights. You will have to adjust the height so make sure the screw location can accommodate vertical movement, if in doubt place the screw in the middle of the hole.- the cut metal is very sharp, recommend filing it smooth so it does not cut your shoes or toes when you open the doorI love this product. I replaced the old plastic sweep that the previous home owner used and not only does it work better but it looks better too because it is low profile. The attached thermal image shows the horizontal sweep just below the cross hairs. I am happy with the seal.
