The concepts were presented in this book as Black and White Decorating schemes. These concepts in black and white were just as applicable to decorating with color.There also many good general design tips in here that would help or freshen the mind of a decorator. As an individual who was considering the possibilities of black and white in my home this was exact stone weight that I needed to JUMP to the Black and White decorating scheme in my home. The book is well written and the photos are excellent. This book can be read in about 4-hours but with each multiple reading you gain more and more education. Definitely a home library book for those interested in the history of decorating, design, black, white, and the combination, and gray spaces.

This book is great particularly if you love just starting your room with black and white whether it being paint, wallpaper, fabrics

I have always been partial to black and white or black and ivory decor. I used it in the early 80s for 6 years when it was in style. Now it can be used anytime anywhere. This book gives reasonable decorating ideas and inspires me to come up with ideas of my own. I like the encouragement to add black on things I hadn't thought of using before. Celerie has done a good job. I recall seeing her on Martha Stewart and enjoyed her casual attitude about decorating as a professional.
