The Pippi Longstocking 4-Book Set: Pippi Longstocking, Pippi Goes on Board, Pippi in the South Seas, and Pippi on the Run Paperback – January 1, 2008

This series of books is such wonderful quality literature. However, the last book, where Tommy and Anika get lost, seems like it was written by someone else. I noticed the publish date, and this book comes like 20 years later than the original books, but they’re by the same author. The last book just feels rushed and not at all written in the charming style of Astrid Lindgren. In fact, if this was her only book about Pippi, Tommy, and Anika, I might just think it was a mildly amusing, mediocre chapter book. It’s still fun to have because it’s just more of a continuation of the wonderful adventures of Pippi. Each of the books are so well-written, they leave the reader hungry for more. Truly some of the best written books for children of all time.

These four separate books in the Pippi Longstocking saga were received with glee from my nine year old independent niece, the same way I received them when I was nine - I am 67 now! These wholesome stories of a wild child whose parents have died are told from the child’s point of view. What she feels, thinks, and how she makes her way in the world. Games she invents, her fantasy world, animals she collects, and wild adventures she has. It is a positive, uplifting, funny insight into how imagination, play, and optimism can save a child. It’s not about following rules to make you conform, it’s about making your own rules that celebrate loving life and handling tough situations creatively. Highly recommended.

I loved reading all of the Pippi Longstocking books when I was a child. Those books and other children's books contributed to making me a reader, later a journalist briefly and an English teacher long term.

USed for a shower gift

These books were read to me during some hard times in my childhood ( cancer treatments), so they have always been dear to me. As a redhead myself and always having my hair in braids (when I had it) I could relate some to Pippi.The books came in excellent condition, and I’m happy to add them to my bookshelf.

The books are very fun to read and the quality is outstanding.

THis set is a great value. I bought this for my wife and she loves these stories. She is very happy with the books, likes the occasional illustration.

My 7-year-old granddaughter was in love with these books. She read one a week for four weeks, sometimes for a few hours at a time. She has long red hair that she wears in a braid, so she felt very close to Pippi. And of course, she found the idea of a little girl running her own household to be hysterically funny. She also liked the fact that the stories have more of a plot than the other books she's been reading.
