Weber63788 Q320 Igniter Kit

Our 9 year old Weber 3200 was on death's doorstep. We used a few videos from Weber online (the Australian videos were fast, clear and easy) to really clean the grill and replace both igniter components in this kit. This #63788 kit was recommended by Weber's website, but the price was similar and shipping much faster with Amzn. Buy it here. Replacing the igniter components took about 15 minutes (max) and worked like a charm. Cleaning everything for 45 minutes made the grill like new.For less than $50 the grill works like it was year 2 again. Don't spend $500-$600 on a replacement grill. Spend less than $50 and an hour to completely recondition it. This kit and the videos made it a breeze.TIPSWATCH VIDEOS - Skim the long, detailed directions that come with the kit but check the weber yt videos (Weber Australia). No need to buy a new battery.TEST IT - Test the igniter before taking out the old one and installing the new parts to be sure it works. We tested it before dismounting the old one.FLATHEAD SCREWDRIVER - Use a large flathead screwdriver to pop out the old module easily (if you know where). The video shows best. That screwdriver makes unscrewing the other component easy too (no need for wrench).GLOVES - Wear gloves (nitrile) unless the grill is very clean already.2nd PERSON - A second person is not required but can make it faster and safer. They can hold lid open, hold gas tubes when removing/installing, etc.SAFETY - Always turn off and unhook gas first. I bought this to replace the exact same one in my grill. I had tried to replace it with the non battery type first but had issues so I spent the money to buy the real part and it works wonderfully and was very easy to install.

I wish I had bought only the "black box" electrical part instead of both the igniter and the black box (I should have bought part# 80453) instead. The black electrical box will fit any of the grills listed (I have an older Q320 model this supposedly fits), but the spark plug part does not fit the older grills, which use an an entirely different design "spark plug." My experience is that the spark plug doesn't really wear out, so save some money and think about buying the 80453 part instead, especially if you have an older grill.I can't complain too much though - my grill is fixed and working well now. It is a silver button color instead of the old one which used a red button color, which I didn't mind.It is was very difficult to remove the old button assembly, and I ended up breaking it on the way out. make sure both parts of the "red button" are removed from the front (there are two), before jamming two screwdrivers in there to release the tabs (that's what the instructions say to do). I didn't have both the ring and the button removed from the front before trying to remove the electrical box from the back.

Was very easy to install new igniter for my gas grill!Factory part matches the original & works perfectly.

Not quite the same as the original equipment, but it fits perfectly and is easier to install and better made. The electronic part is the same as my four year old grill had, but the sparking part is different. But don't worry about the differences. You need to hinge up the large burner and remove the small central burner to get access to the old one. You need to have that lower bolt out anyway. The button/electronics unplug easily, there's just a simple clip to compress. The new one snaps right in to place. The old spark plug is held in by a nut on each side, with the burner out of the way it's easy to remove with your favorite light duty tool (I used a SOG multitool). The new spark plug slots in from the inside, then you install the center burner and bolt it down through the tab on the new unit. Then just hook up the wires and you are done. The new igniter restores the convenient lighting and I don't need to drop matches in any more.

This item was ordered yesterday and arrived today around Noon. I read the instructions but decided to replace the electronic part first. The instructions made it clear that there were only two plastic click-in pieces that held it in place. I pulled and unplugged the black and the white wires out of the back of the “black box” looking part first and then untwisted the front button and removed it and the AAA battery. I couldn’t see the two clip pieces so I looked more closely and could see there was still a metal circular piece I had to twist and pull off. Then I could see a black tiny tab like piece and knew from the instructions the clip-in pieces would be just behind each of those. Using only a regular size flat head screwdriver and pushing the electronic battery holder piece at the same time first one side came free and then doing the same to the second one also freed the complete assembly. It is taking me longer to write this then it did to repair the grill. Lastly you just push the replacement electronics into the hole from the back, insert the battery and button from the front and plug the white and then the black wires back in to their respective ports. This intire process took under 5 minutes and the igniter now works like new. I’ll save the silver igniter wire in case I ever actually need it. There actually is nothing to break on that part so the old one works fine.

I bought this not knowing how many parts were missing from the ignitor system on my Webber Q3200. In the end it only needed the button and battery. Fits well and works.

In Australia there's the Q3000 and Q32000. This part fit as expected and works very well. fyi: The higher model is a Weber store "only" model that upgrades a piezo ignitor to electric on, and adds a thermometer to the lid.Helpful hint: Check out the condition of your gas burner tubes when you upgrade your ignitor. Ensure that none of the holes are rusted shut (especially near the ignitor) and that the tubes aren't rusted through anywhere. If so, you should replace them while you're at it to save a lot of headaches and possibly thinking that the ignitor isn't sparking in the right place. Ask me how I know! Haha.
