Brackets are not perfect, so the shelf might not be level.
These brackets are sturdy, and completed my project nicely. However, the screws sent with it are light duty, and don't even fit the drywall anchors provided. The screw can easily slide all the way in to the anchor without even needing to twist the screw. No big deal, I had plenty in my garage to choose from for replacements. 3 out of 4 of my screws were going directly in to the stud anyway. So I tossed aside the screws provided and used proper ones for the job. My next issue, the peg is NOT 90° with the mounting bracket. So assuming you've drilled your hole in the shelf perfectly for this bracket, it will lean a bit. I had 2 that tilt up, and 2 that tilt down.My project was a new mantle above my fireplace. The original made by the builder when my house was built did not look the way we wanted, and was nearly a foot tall. These brackets worked great for my custom mantle I made. While they are easy enough to install that anyone can do it, a little experience will be helpful. I chose to use the brackets that lean up slightly at the tip, so naturally my shelf does too now. But in this case, it doesn't matter. I will need to try to correct the other 2 brackets, I don't want a shelf that leans down. I hope I can straighten them without damaging the weld.

I'm pleased
We decided on this kit based on the reviews. We got the brackets up quick and easy using masonry anchors. Now, I am just waiting on the old fireplace mantel that my sister is bringing me. It is over 5 ft long, so we put up all four of these brackets for that one shelf. While I wait for my board, I caught the kids climbing on them so I know that they are plenty sturdy. Hopefully the old board that’s on the way is as sturdy as the brackets! My husband really likes the level that came in this kit. Since it is only 10” long it is easier to work with than our 24” one.

Drill holes on dowel need to be on top when drilling into wall
You have to pay attention to what side of the dowel is facing up. I drilled a whole shelf with the drill holes on the dowel facing down and the dowels were not level from from to back. I had to put spacers on the bottom half to raise it up. On my second shelf I put the drill holes facing up and it was much more level. I used a laser level to make sure the dowels where level. Other than this, they worked well and are holding up my shelves perfectly fine. I am using them for my bar so they are holding large bottles of alcohol no problem.

Great for floating shelves
So my husband and I got some reclaimed barn wood to hopefully hang some floating shelves in the house. We were having trouble finding floating shelf brackets that were small enough that we could drill into the the wood and not crack it to fit them and that we also felt would hold the support of the weight of the items we wanted to put on the shelf. I came across these but I wasn't sure if they were going to do the trick. When my husband got home last night we tested them out and they did the job excellent! I am so excited I found these! I am not sure my husband is... HAHA! I know in the pictures it shows the level, we have a level so I didn't think it was a big deal however our level is quiet big and it was actually super convent for a miniature size one when hanging. I'll be back for more in the future!

Sturdy but difficult to install
These brackets hold very well. They were a little difficult to install since the bar does not come off. So screwing the mount into the wall was a little difficult to get the drill/screwdriver around the bar without pushing the bar around.

Strong and sturdy brackets
After being disappointed with a different set of hidden shelf brackets I went back to Amazon and found this brand and after reading other reviews I decided to try them. I am really impressed with the sturdiness of these brackets. I was able to get both of the mounting screws for each bracket into the 2x4 studs in the wall. I used a stud finder to locate each stud and used the screws provided thus avoiding the need to use the drywall fastners. With both screws set into the 2x4's, the brackets are very sturdy. I used a 6" 1/2 inch drill bit and the brackets fit perfectly.

A Product That Works
I used these supports to hold custom-made shelves for a client. Mounted directly onto wall studs, they are very strong and are working out great. Make sure that your shelve is thick enough to capture the whole support back. Also, the shelf will have to be notched to accept the support back unless you build it to cover the top, bottom, or both edges of the back. Measure carefully and then drill, etc, for your support bars. I also recommend using longer exterior screws for attaching this to the wall, as the ones provided are not that impressive.

Nice and sturdy
Product was very nice and sturdy, shipping was wrapped up nicely with no damage, each bracket individually wrapped.I like that the brackets are separate instead of one long bar, allowed me to hit each stud when putting up the shelf.Anchors and screws that came with it are decent, if you're mounting something heavy definitely forgo the anchors and go straight into a stud.Overall I loved the product, sturdy construction, welds were nice and strong, brackets were straight, I feel like it's a good value, especially for how many comes with a single order.
