Kool Coat Airstream Detach-A-Neck UV Fly Sheet

Just received this for my mare. I probably could have ordered a size smaller. She normally wears a 78 and this is a little large. However, better too big than too small and really didn't realize it until she had worn it for a few hours. So, will keep this size. It is light enough that she can wear on the hot days. It's been in the 80's here with high humidity and she's comfortable. Yesterday I thought it might be too hot and the bugs weren't so bad in the middle of the day and I didn't put it on her. I kept looking out and she wasn't in the yard. I went out to check and she hadn't come out of her stall 2 hours later. I put on her fly gear and out she came! Guess she LOVES it!! She's had it on all day today and hasn't hardly been in the barn............... Would buy another and recommend to my friends. We'll see how it holds up???

I have a 10 month old Cremello which I rescued from a kill pen. She was in rough shape, and we ultimately found a melanoma on her. The vet assured me that was highly unusual at this age and told me that she absolutely needed sun protection at all times.The Kool Coat is much thicker than most fly sheets. It is largely a fabric, although a thin breathable one, with only strategic meshing. It appears well put together, although we are only on day two. I will update as we go on. The sizing runs true. (I brought a little big since she is growing still.) It was a warm sunny day and she didn't get warm in this. I think it's a good product and protects her from the UV, especially the back and rump. She will be able to enjoy turnout with her horsey friends now!!!!

I love this flysheet as a whole but my horse destroyed it in a week! With only leg straps and a belly band, my horse came in with only the belly band left on him after a night out in the field. He is turned out with 8 other geldings and they apparently had a game of tug-of-war and destroyed the flysheet. It's not nearly as sturdy as other brands but it is cooler when it is hot outside. The flysheet definitely keeps my horse cooler than his other flysheets and the UV protection is needed as he is a grey but this sheet couldn't stand up to his wear and tear (thankfully it is cheap). I would recommend this to someone who has an easy keeper or a horse on private turnout. On a positive note, it is true to size :)

This sheet did not come from Amazon so it took longer to arrive, but still arrived on the last estimated date. I love this sheet! It fits my mare perfectly and now she looks like a princes bride when she has it on. It is easy to put on and take off. Since my mare is mostly white she tends to sunburn easily. This sheet protects her from the sun but is also ventilated to keep her from getting too hot during our high 90 degree summer days. I thought the cost was less than many sheets, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but this sheet exceeded my expectations. I think this sheet could be the best one on the market at any price.

I have a few good things to say about this fly sheet. Good quality, seems durable, great coverage, good price. Here's the thing: If you are more worried about sun burn this is the fly sheet for you. I expected it to be "kooler". My guy is always sweaty when I take it off. You mostly need fly protection when it's super hot so...not really worth it. The front buckle is not my favorite but I mostly slip it over his head so that's ok. I figured the color would be good to reflect the sun but he looks so ridiculous as if he is in a hospital gown with the blue grid print. Sadly I will just use it more for keeping him clean before a show. Now I've got to get another fly sheet. Change the name of this fly sheet Weatherbeeta.

Unfortunately, this fly sheet did not work for me at all. The quality of the workmanship seemed good, and I liked the way the neck cover attached, but it was too hot (my horse was sweating at 80 degrees out). But what really didn't work was the slipping. My horse wore it for about 4 hrs, and I went out and adjusted it 4 or 5 times before I gave up. Within no time, it would be hanging way off one side. I tried different adjustments to the straps but nothing made it better. He was just standing and walking around a small paddock. No way would I want to turn him out with this on. Disappointed.

I just reordered this sheet after my old one finally bit the dust. It runs a little big, so you might want to order a size under. My horse used this sheet for almost three years with only a few easily repaired rips in the netting. I like the fact that it is cloth along the top, I've seen many fly sheets ruined because the netting can't stand up to rolling, so this feature makes the sheet much more durable. What finally destroyed it was a large rip near the back leg that could not be mended, but I blame this on a bored pasture mate, not the sheet. Really great sheet for the price.

My horse was covered with bumps from reactions to bug bites. At first I only put the sheet on during the day and I didnt see a huge improvement. Then I started leaving the sheet on at night and within a week, all his bumps were gone. My only complaint about the sheet is, it needs a belly band. Since my horse's belly is still open for bug bites, he has sores and raw spots on his belly that Im still doctoring with salve and fly spray. I was surprised at how well the sheet has held up to my horse rolling and rubbing in it.

This was just what I needed. I have a grey horse and not only does it keep him cool and fly free it protects him from the sun. I would buy another one as he wears it all day and naps in it with no rips.
