Bestop 5682037 Spice Trektop NX for 1997-2006 Wrangler Except Unlimited Large

I bought the Trektop NX in Black Diamond to replace my 2005 TJ stock factory soft top mainly for the Sunrider roof. I love the idea of just flipping the top back and letting in the sun/fresh air without the hassle of taking the windows out, lowering the roof, etc. I don't think I will even miss or care about taking the entire roof off because I never have anyone sitting in the back seat anyway and like the idea of having the Safari roof, which looks incredible and is pretty much how I ran with the factory soft top.Many have concerns about window storage and taking them with you in the Jeep. If you take the plastic inserts out of the side windows you can indeed roll them and the rear window up or put them in a window bag (Bestop now offers the Window Storage Portfolio, and specifically says the Trektop NX windows will fit in it). After removing the plastic inserts (which is extremely easy), I was able to lay them in my Cloverpatch bag and roll them up same as the stock windows. It helps if you lay them out in the sun for a few minutes to soften then up. So no issues with window storage as far as I'm concerned.I was very impressed with the high quality of this top. I ordered it from Amazon (shipped from Jegs) and it came in a few days. Everything was in order and in perfect shape. The directions were fairly clear but it helps if you watch the excellent video that's available on Youtube or Bestop.com and gives you step by step instructions on how to install it. Everything you need comes with it and is factory quality. The black diamond color I got looked great and matched my Bestop soft doors perfectly.The hardest part of the install was putting the knobs into the door surrounds. For some reason the front part just didn't want to line up and I needed help to manhandle it on this part so everything would line up and I could thread the knobs in all the way. Otherwise the entire install (including taking off my factory top) went well, without any problems and took me about 2 hours, and that was with frequent breaks.It helps if you do this on a HOT sunny day. It was 85 degrees and sunny and I laid out the top and window for 3 hours in the sun and installed it in sunlight. HIGHLY recommend this!They give you 8 screws, which is what came on my factory top, to attach the top to the headliner but there are 14 (earlier years came with more screws from the factory) holes in the headliner. I added 6 and found that the top laid much nicer on the headliner.I also recommend waiting until the top is all buckled down and attached front and back before attaching the front straps to the rollbar to get the best fit possible.The only part I wasn't impressed with was the rear straps/buckles. They seemed attached rather flimsily and after reading how they broke easily I was careful not to pull on them too much. IMO, they should be reinforced at the attachment point and made of thicker/wider material. I installed mine without any problems.The window install went well but the windows had been sitting for hours in the sun so they were soft and pliable. Everything zipped up nicely. Be sure to follow the directions for putting the windows in EXACTLY and in the right order. I am letting the windows stay installed for a few days so they will stretch out. I am wondering how well they will do when the weather is cooler and I put them in cooler temperatures.Once in, the windows and top looked great and factory. Everything zipped together and fit perfectly. Windows are tight and wrinkle free. The Sunrider feature works well and I flipped it back with doors off and took a ride and there wasn't any flapping or problems. Am looking forward to taking the windows out and enjoying the Safari top with Sunrider this summer. Taking the doors off just adds to the fun!Highly recommend this top. Will update and add if this changes but I'm really, really happy I got this top.UPDATE: Over 2 months later and the top is holding up beautifully. No issues. Rear straps are staying on well and it does great at highway speeds. I've had the windows in and out and have gone though the summer without the windows, leaving it with the safari top. The weather has been hot since I installed it. Will see how it goes when it gets colder.

Picked this up to replace my Rampage top which only lasted a year and a half. I have no experience with stock jeep tops as my stock top was in pieces when I bought the truck and went directly to an aftermarket top. On the plus side most of my stock hardware was already gone thanks to having had an aftermarket top. Big differences between my old top and this one: sunrider feature, no exposed straps, an arch to prevent puddling, no giant strap running through the entire inside of the Jeep, pull tabs at the bottom of the rubber inserts for easier removal, plastic inserts to protect and shape the rear windows.The Product: This arrived in a huge box, didn't come with any amazon badging on it, in fact they warn you that it won't. I have prime and it showed up right on time. The box was well packed and as I started removing the pieces I could tell immediately it was worth upgrading from my old Rampage. I went with Black Diamond on the trim vs. the black denim that I had preciously. The material has a nice sheen to it and looks very clean. I inspected all the pieces and the material was in great shape no little rough spots. The hardware was nice and came with everything I needed. Most of these parts are similar to what I had on the rampage top, although everything was a little sleeker, side plastic was a little thinner and tighter fitting. The arch and the rear bow were both well constructed, and it seemed like the windows were a little thicker and they were larger than on my Rampage.Construction: There is a little bit of construction once this comes out of the box. Nothing to hard but you will have to attach some hardware around the doors (very easy) you will need to attach two metal brackets on the back of the jeep (this will require drilling, mine already had holes that matched up thanks to my old top) and then you will need to attach the actual fabric to the header, which is simple only about 7 screws and attach arms to the header. You will need to install the arch across the top of the two doors, and install the bow across the back.Installation: This top warns to install it on a nice warm 75+ sunny day. Unfortunately I needed this top on during the nationwide deep freeze we just experienced, and knowing how well it went when I had to install the Rampage top in November I was dreading installation. I have a smaller room in my house so we tossed some room heaters in there and got it up to a balmy 85 degrees in there. Then I got the heater going in my garage and got it up to 70 degrees in there. I then ran in and got pieces one by one to install them. This baby did not want to go on at all! It took tons of pulling by me and my wife to finally get everything buttoned up and we still have not been able to get the header to lock down, once it warms up a little we should be able to clamp it down no problem.Instructions: These are not the best, only thing about this top I don't absolutely love.Time will tell if this top holds up in the long run. I was pretty happy with my Rampage top at first too, till the zippers broke, and the rubber broke, and the metal clasps rusted, Velcro came off, and the straps frayed, all within two years. But so far this is a great buy!I am back to update my review on this top since it's been close to two years since I purchased it. I am happy to say that this top is still alive and kickin! This top still fits like a glove! Which means it's still a nightmare to put back on in temperatures under 85 degrees, put it also means that there has been no long term stretching! My Jeep lives outside 24/7 in Kansas (100+ degree summers, snowy negative temps in the winter) but to date there has been no fading to the top! I have found that I use the sunrider feature nearly everyday, and I have even mastered the art of flipping the sunrider portion back at a stop light! After owning this top for nearly two years I can safely say that this top was the right decision! Do yourself a favor and spend the little bit extra on a top that lasts!

Very good construction. Includes everything you need to fully install the top even the screws to secure canvas top to front frame member. Install is simple if you follow steps. If you have a regular soft top on your Jeep Wrangler TJ you need to completely remove your top mechanism which is not mentioned on the installation instructions. Make sure to set the new top out on the sun while you remove the old one, it will help once you start fitting the new top on the Jeep. Easy installation, very tight fit.

Top fits great and has less wind slap than I expected. Sides remove and install quickly which is a plus. Watched some Youtube vids for install tips and I highly recommend this. My install went way quicker than the expected time I was told. Definitely happy with my purchase and would recommend this top.
