I have the other "Zen" brushes from the same maker, and absolutely love them. Good build quality, has an excellent stroke, and doesn't shed. This brush, while quite heavy and sturdy, is not great as an artist tool. It's huge, so I suppose it has a novelty item appeal. But I can't paint with it. The bristles do not stay together, it sheds like a sick dog, and every stroke is so inconsistent. I do Sumi-E paintings, so I could theoretically appreciate using the randomness this brush gives every brushstroke, but after trying for hours to make bamboo and couldn't, I had to throw this in the trash.

Awesome large brush for making Enso's...holds ink well and also great with watercolors. The brush can easily be striped with watercolor paint to create very unique Enso's Easy to clean.

This is definitely a wonderful brush! An experienced Sumi artist knows that a big brush such as this is not used for doing bamboo strokes. It is for making mountains, clouds, flowing water, waterfalls, animal shapes , etc.. It is also great for any art where abstract free shapes are needed which is what I mainly use mine for. It’s every bit as good as all the other great BB brushes and I love mine.
