Clocking in at almost two hours that you never want to end, My Little Bride is simply just what Korean romantic comedy needs at a time of trite formula and My Sassy Girl rip-offs. As the second biggest domestic film of 2004, itshows its right to be there in spite of a slightly offbeat story and change of pace from your average film of the genre, which could have disagreed with your common viewer. Kim Ho-joon has crafted an infectious debut that knows what the viewer wants, gives it to us for almost the entire running time, and quickly zips through the required melodrama in breakneck speed, while sprinkling some drama throughout the film. College wanna-be playboy Park Sang-min arrives home to meet his childhood friend Boeun, now a fifteen year old girl in high school, who s also been called home for an important family matter. Boeun s grandfather started a friendship with Sang-min s grandfather years ago during war, and before Sang-min s grandfather died, they agreed to have their children marry. A problem arose after the death because they both had sons, so Boeun s grandfather decided to pass down the pact to the next generation, so he could keep his promise with his friend when he meets him in death. Boeun s grandfather, allegedly on his deathbed, gets the two families to agree, and springs it on Sang-min and Boeun to their dismay, and they immediately refuse. Soon, out of guilt and promise, they do get married, but between Boeun s high-school life and Sang-min s not-so-surprising position, they ve somehow got to figure out how to live with each other. The fun all seems to start when Boeun is referred to as a girl, and she claims that in the old days, women her age would be married by that time. What a perfect prelude to grandfather s question. child bride nightmare
I had to turn this movie off because the premise is not what is advertised. I thought the child bride would be a young woman in her twenties and the groom would be twice her age. CHILD BRIDE is what you get. I found the reality of this absolutely offensive. the'bride' is a 16 year old high schoolgirl and grom is a 21 year old college student.the plot revolves around the under handed tricks of a pedo grandfather. child brides are a form of slavery where young girls are sold or given to pedofiles. this could have been a really good ron/com be its not even close.

Cute but still
This movie was super cute with great acting from all the characters and lots to love - the bromance between the main character and his two college buddies, the oh-so-cute romance between Bo-Eun and Jun-Woon (the baseball player). I just wish they'd aged up the characters a bit so that Bo-Eun was at least legal and in college. The ick factor of having her be in high school kind of stays throughout the movie, even though nothing happens in that way. I really enjoyed the character of Bo-Eun's mother, who is clearly upset at the arrangement and wants to make sure her daughter is at least able to get all the way through college. I agree with another reviewer who said that they should have just had everyone living with their families at home, rather than having the married couple live in their own place - another detail that skewed into questionable territory. I was also a uncomfortable with the ending, which was a bit of a stretch in the plausibility department. But still - I would watch this movie again, because the chemistry between the two leads is very good, and there are some great moments of humor.

Ick! Spoiler arlert!
The ick factor on this one is so high that I'm still disturbed the morning after watching it. The protagonist is 16, but looks 12, making the fact that she has been manipulated into marrying a man in his 20s even less palatable. In fact, she is not only young and fresh-faced, but she is also still in high school, where she is the youngest-looking female among her high school peers! Was that casting done on purpose to emphasize the age difference? If so, it only served to raise the ick factor. I wish that I could get the time back that I spent watching the movie! Ugh!

Wow! Simply Wow!
I have been enjoying Korean movies of late. My Little Bride sounded intriguing, but I was prepared to be turned off due to the subject matter. I am glad I watched it. The movie is tasteful done. The co-stars are fantastic and supporting cast is great. Truth be told, this movie made me smile, laugh, and even tear up. If done right, this movie deserves a sequel.

Pretty good, actually
This movie wasn't at all what I expected, and that's a good thing. I thought it was a good story-- very believable and touching. My only critique [SPOILER ALERT] is that it would have made more sense for the wife to remain with her family since everyone was one the same page that she was too young to marry. Other than that, great movie.

I love this movie
OMG....I had to watch this several times. I love this movie. So funny...so romantic, at times, at a point that can pull at some tears. Good funny romantic comedy! was laughing a lot, especially the Home Room female teacher with her facial expressions. When she was drinking with the teachers and trying to hit on the main male character! I recommend it! Truly one of my favorites !!!!!!!

Funny, Clean Movie!!!
This is not MTV 16 and pregnant. And nothing in this movie try to expose any child slavery or anything like that. It's very clean movie. It's just a story of 2 young couple that actually growing up together since they're little and they fall in love at the end. Yes the girl is 16 years old and the guy is 21. But they know each other since they're little. And yes the marriage is arrange but nobody being rape against their will. The guy very respectful toward the girl. This is more funny , romantic movie. This is not MTV 16 and pregnant. AND THIS IS JUST A MOVIE. If you have closed minded toward different cultures then don't watch it because you'll be just judgmental no matter what the story brings. But if you're open minded person that just try to watch a movie as entertainment purpose only then watch it. It's pretty easy to watch and nice to watch.

Cute
It's a cute little movie. It's about how a high schooler accepts and keeps secret a marriage decided on by her grandfather to a man who was raised like her brother/cousin all her life who already completed military service and is just finishing up college, so is well in his 20's. It really highlights that you marry the entire family. It's all so grandpa can become a inlaw to a friend who died long ago. Nothing inappropriate happens. It's funny.
