The FAA is expected to finalize the small UAS Rules (unmanned aerial systems), into the NAS (National Airspace System). We are confident that any responsible and safety conscious UAS (drone) operator, customer, or agency, including the FAA , would want all UAS to incorporate a highly visible strobe light attached for obvious safety reasons. Drones can usually be heard, but very difficult, even for the drone operator to locate and keep a drone in sight. Should one "get away" it is extremely difficult for pedestrians, fixed wing aircraft, and helicopter pilots to see a unlit drone in time to take evasive action. Strobe equipped drones approaching a restricted area like the White House, military installations, and airports will be easier to identify and dealt with accordingly. While we wait on the FAA to make this mandated decision, the AUVSI and responsible UAS operators should make their own rules when it comes to safety and personal liability. A unlit drone is perceived the same as an unmarked car by the public. Operating a unlit drone in close proximity to the public would be considered irresponsible in any case of injury or incident. The AUVSI and public wants to see drones in a better light, show them yours with a real strobe on it. The DS-30-1 Drone Strobe is not just a flashing LED that looks good up close or on a table. It makes for safer drone flight operations "in and out of" the FAA "Line of Sight
