This thrower absolutely performs as advertised.
I have not tried the other kinds of hand throwers, so I cannot weigh in on whether this is the best one. I CAN say, however, that it works exactly as advertised, and throws about 50 yards with almost no effort. (Actually, the trick seems to be to throw without using the upper arm, and with less effort than you think it is going to take. Watching the videos on the http://wingoneusa.com/ website before using it helps immensely. A tweak or two on your grip and you are throwing where you want them to go. Straight throws are possible. Arcs are possible. It re-throws thrown-but-unbroken clays without breaking them, too. I am VERY FAVORABLY IMPRESSED. This thrower was partially responsible for an immensely enjoyable afternoon of shooting this past weekend, effortlessly throwing about as fast as the shotguns could be reloaded and aimed. Buy it.

Great alone or with a machine. Have your own Sporting Clays
Easy to use, easy to throw fast, slow, low, high, any way you want. I can easily throw as far (~65 yards) as our machine. This would be a great stand-alone thrower or is a great addition to a machine, allowing for fun doubles with as much predictability as you feel like giving. A skilled person can throw fairly repeatable flights- not like skeet but much tighter than a full-swing trap launcher. The throwing motion is limited compared to throwing a ball so it is easier on my shoulder. As an older person, I wouldn't want to throw 150 clays in a session with it, though you could build conditioning.Also- anyone new to the sport can have success hitting clays thrown with this because YOU control the height and velocity of the clay. The machine is always fast and that can be frustrating for new shooters- and boring for younger shooters. This lets you throw Sporting Clays, any way you want. Okay, no standing in the field in front of the shooter... Use responsibly!

Not a fan.. maybe i'm doing it wrong?
With all of the hype around this product I thought it was going to perform better than it did. It seems that if you use any type of force to try and throw your clays that they just fall out of the thrower because the metal arms that hold your clay flex open too easily when you are in your throwing motion trying to get some power into a throw. Any time my dad and brothers tried to get some distance on a clay it just fell to the ground out of the back of the thrower. There must be some trick to it because the youtube video promo was able to demonstrate much better performance.

Best clay thrower
The video helped sell this to me. It is awesome. I have an electric thrower but it's big and bulky. This thing loads fast and has great range. The electric thrower will be on CL soon. The WingOne fits anywhere and even my small kids can throw with it. Love it. Make sure you get the left handed version if you throw that way, it doesn't do both.

They made a better mousetrap!
From the first time I used it, I didn't break a single clay loading the thrower. Easy to load, easy to throw. I did have a few errant throws at first as I got used to the WingOne but quickly got the hang of it. Showed it off to several friends and now they want one too. So much more convenient to transport than the standard clay throwers and 100 times better than any hand thrower I have used. Easy to vary in speed and angle of the clay to make more challenging shots if desired. Absolutely LOVE IT! The only negative is that it is for right hand throwers only. They also have a left hand model but I hate to buy an extra one for my southpaw buddy. He throws pretty crappy with his off hand and I am the one that has to shoot his crazy clays.

Easy clay thrower
I'm mad at this product because of all the fun it brings to the table. It is easy to load, throw, sling, adjusting the flight pattern on a fly. The reason I'm mad will be that I want to go clay shooting all the time. The best clays to use are the ones from academy but the biodegradable one from Wal-Mart work out good. You can only throw standard clay. The best thing is that it is super light weight, construction is solid and the speed of the clay is all up to how hard the person throws. I have taken friends out and just toss them so slow that they felt like pros. Then I bring them back to reality by humming bird them on the next couple of throws lol .

Best hand thrower made period!!!!!
This is one fine way to have fun playing with the WingOne!!! Much easier to master than other hand throwers and a great addition to my powered automatic clay thrower making doubles a lot of fun!!! I think anyone with a small amount of practice can have a ball with this thrower. If you have had bad experiences with other clay throwers give the WingOne a try!!!!

better than great
If you like to shoot clays you have to have this. I have a sit down model with a spirng loaded throwing arm and the cheap plastic hand thrower. This has replaced both of them. Go to you tube abd watch the videos. It is very easy to use. The old plastic hand thrower made my shoulder hurt not this one. You will love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
