Ballistic Tough Jacket Case for the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s - Retail Packaging - Black

Ballistic is generally known as a good brand for phone cases that have advertised drop-protection. I had a Tough Jacket before for the Galaxy S4, and now for the iPhone 6. Both Tough Jackets for these phones' were designed nearly identical, the rubber was shaped about the same, so was the hardshell.With the Galaxy S4, phone construction was much better than iPhone 6, and dropping the phone rarely made me worry. I did not worry for 2 reasons: (1) the case was well constructed with good corner protection and very good hardshell backing protection; (2) i never focused on the weak areas of the case at the time.With the iPhone 6, the phone is constructed - almost comically - of crap aluminum with no real strength whatsoever. it is so soft and thin, that you could bend the body by hand. This is a topic for an Apple Community discussion that I've posted in the past and it was quickly taken down by Apple staff.Anyway, I will focus on the case and how it performed with this phone:It protects the phone generally well against bending. you can have it in your pocket and feel comfortable enough to not worry about leaning against something like a table edge and the phone would be between your body and the table (if you could picture what I'm trying to say). As a subjective comparison, this might help: I had a tech21 check case on this phone the first week i got it, dropped the phone once. Although the drop was not very far (about 1 foot), I noticed the phone had very slightly bent, such that when I put a straight edge on the back of the phone, I could notice a small gap between the scale and the phone at some locations. That's where it would normally be absolutely straight. So, regarding this concern, I have no complaints with the Tough Jacket at all.Corner drop protection is also very good, no issues, I've dropped my phone (with the Tough Jacket on) several times and never noticed damage to it's corners. It's kind of tough to find cases with similar corner impact protection. No complaints there either.So far, all around good case. Except I unexpectedly found a weak spot that really upset me. One of my recent drops (all of my accidental drops have been not more than a few feet) eventually damaged the phone where I didn't think it would have. The fundamental problem with this case design is that along 2 edges (the bottom where the connections and speaker are, and the volume rocker buttons) the protection is really minimal. As I mentioned before, the iphone 6 is flimsy, and it is weakest between the volume buttons and the screen glass. It took a drop once with the Tough Jacket on and it must have hit that area. Noticed when I took the case off that this part of the body had bent outward, like the glass was squeezed down on it's edge and the metal warped outward. This happened with the case on. I was lucky I had a tempered glass screen protector because if I didn't I'm pretty sure the phone screen would have shattered alsoThat incident prompted me to look at the case design a bit closer - the volume button area is just rubber, without any hardshell backing or reinforcement. it can easily move out of the way when it comes in contact with something. the same is also true with the bottom edge of the case where all the connections are. But that part of the phone is probably more sturdy.I was quite disappointed with this. I think you would be too if you bought a case with an advertised drop protection of 7 ft, only to find damage on your $ 650 + device after a drop of less than 3 ft.I did not want to go the route of lifeproof because I don't like their cases, and i had good experience with Ballistic in the past, but this time around I feel like I'm going to go to Otterbox or find some other brand with good all around protection.If this case was truely stellar, it would have been selling for more than it is due to popularity and word of mouth .... instead it's less than 1/2 the retail cost here on amazon. guess you get what you pay for ....

I've happily carried my phones in Ballistic cases for a few years now, but when I upgraded to the iPhone I allowed myself to be talked into a Life Proof case that failed miserably. Realizing my mistake, I ran quickly back to a brand new Ballistic Touch Jacket to wrap my new iPhone. I Haven't regretted it for a single moment because, as careful as I try to be with my phones they still fall from my desk, from the kitchen counter, from my lap and onto the pavement as I get out of my truck. The Tough Jacket has saved the day each time - not a scratch, not a crack; it's why I carried my 4S much longer than I expected. It's a two part case with a rubber-like number that wraps around the sides and back of your phone, that is then partially enclosed in a hard composite case that wraps the sides and back (not the top or bottom). The volume and power buttons are protected by the rubber-like material but the mute switch is exposed. There are cutouts for the headphone jack, lightning connector, speaker, rear camera and flash. There is also a high enough lip around the screen that you can set it face down with confidence that you aren't going to scratch the living daylights out of the screen. I've carried Ballistic cases daily for years and they look the same after three years as they did on the day Amazon delivered it.

I had a iPhone 4 with this same case and loved it. Every time it fell i wouldn't be worried about anything because the case was strong and amazing.I have the iPhone 6 now and bought the exact same case(this one) because of how strong it is. I think it says it can be dropped from 6 feet and it should be ok, which is crazy. I made the mistake of holding my phone over the stairs in my house and accidentally dropping the phone, with the case on, right on the wood floor.I thought that was it for my iPhone and the screen would be absolutely destroyed. To my surprise the phone fell flat on its back and the screen was fine and in tact. But i later realized that i damaged something with the WiFi and i can no longer connect to WiFi, i have to get it fixed. I am writing this review to let you know that this is the best case i have ever had, It can be dropped from higher that 6 feet and will be fine, but never risk it because you will never know what could happen. I would recommend this case to anyone. Don't make the same mistake that i did and drop it from so high up.

This is an excellent case. I have been using it for a few months now, and so far all is well! It feels very secure, but it is still thin enough that I can keep it in the front or back pockets on a pair of skinny jeans. It is very easy to install and remove, the texture is really nice, and it fits my iPhone 6 perfectly. I even use one of the little cut-outs on the side (meant for a belt clip, I am assuming) as a spot for my Beerus cellphone charm. While it says it can withstand a six-foot drop, I am not going to test it! However, normal, little drops have had no effect. Thankfully, this does not occur often.Also, I have a tempered glass screen protector on my phone, and it perfectly compliments this. I will say this: Don't use an edge-to-edge screen protector with this case. First off, the lip around the edges of the case negate the need for an edge-to-edge screen protector. The other reason not to use one is that, because of the design of the case, it will create a permanent air bubble on the lower left side of the screen protector. So! Just use it with a regular one, and you will feel like your phone is indestructible. :3

Have gone through a lot of phone cases, this is by far the best and even better than more expensive otter brands👍

Very happy with this product. Sturdy and reliable. Had purchased one for a previous model smart phone and that one is still in perfect condition so I am a repeat customer

Worst case for iPhone 6. Bulky and hard to take out of pockets. Returned to seller because of case defects!
