In 2016, Schenker put together MICHAEL SCHENKER FEST, a tour featuring former MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP vocalists Gary Barden and Graham Bonnet, plus Robin McAuley of the McAULEY SCHENKER GROUP. Instrumental back-up was provided by former M.S.G. bass player Chris Glen and drummer Ted McKenna, plus guitarist/keyboard player Steve Mann, also of the McAULEY SCHENKER GROUP. These shows were so rapturously received by audiences across Japan and Europe that it seemed only logical for the protagonists to make new music together. The decision to bring in Doogie White, singer of Schenker's TEMPLE OF ROCK, adds even more substance to Michael's assembly. - All of the album's participants appear in the album's tongue-in-cheek cover art, a biblical-style concept. Originally Michael wanted to call the album Michael Schenker Fest In The Studio« with an album cover showing a big banquet table in a recording studio, waitresses with big bosoms, pints of beer and chunks of lamb in medieval style.

Great guitarist, kick-ass vocals, great production. Love it, makes me feel alive.
Another great album from guitar hero, Michael Schenker. The guitar work requires no praise - the man is a legend, admired by Kirk Hammet of Metallica. Is here any better recommendation? Here he brings together four of the greatest singers in heavy metal, Robin Macauley, Gary Barden, Graham Bonnet and Doogie White. They each bring their own distinctive style to the record, combining gorgeously in the wonderful "Warrior" which still gives me goosebumps. "Heart and Soul" with guest star Hammett and singer Macauley blows your socks off. Schenker's guitar playing is just indecently brilliant, how come he can play so well when I have been trying for 50 years and still cannot play properly???What impresses also is the clear impression of fun which these rockers clearly had making the album. Somehow it seems to smile at you.Great production by Michael Voss of Kidroom Music - as always. Thank you for the music, it brightens my life.

Schenker and Co Hit The Spot
Must admit i wasnt that impressed on first listen, track 1 seemed too fast and off kilter whilst the intro to 'Warrior' had me reaching for thesick bag. So i put it away and stuck with the recent live album, gave it a couple of weeks and came back, its a grower need to be listened 2 over and over not an instant love ( for me) Still hate the intro to 'Warrior' ha haHaving 4 singers can take a bit of getting used to but once you do there is plenty to enjoy here solid band great playing from Schenker and you gotta smile at 'Take Me To The Church'If you loved it from the off great,if your not sure stick with it ,it will be rewarding in the end,i'm glad i did.

A great idea that works a treat!
I hadn't bought any solo product from Michael Schenker since the late 80's but have always rated him as a great guitarist, especially when in UFO, one of my all time favourite bands. I was intrigued by this project though of bringing together all the old vocalists (however, I've never been a great fan of Graham Bonnet) and was particularly impressed by Doogie White, whom I'd never heard before and sounds similar to Saxon's Biff Bifford. Despite some negative reviews elsewhere I found this record to be top notch with Schenker's playing sublime as usual with track highlights being ‘warrior’ ‘heart & soul' ‘messin’ around' & ‘time knows when it's time'. A cracking rock album!

Almost a return to greatness but too inconsistent......and those fricking drums aargh!
I am a huge fan of Michael Schenker - I started as a teenager with the first 4 MSG albums and went backwards later to all the UFO albums that he has played on. Latterly apart from some great live albums the studio output has been plagued by inconsistency of style and quality....that he has re-energised his playing is so exciting to hear. But and there is a but there are too many songs that are mediocre and therefore lack the spark that inspires the great solo that all Schenker fans are waiting for.So the album begins fairly strongly with Heart and soul sung strongly by Robin Mcauley driven by a double tempo wall of drums and whilst with this song it kind of works, the tendency with the dominant drum tempo is to match it with a metronomic solo which is less interesting and this is a weakness of some of Schenkers current songwriting - relying on the energy of a galloping wall of drums. The next 2 songs are fabulous, Warrior with Robin again and Take me to the Church sung fabulously by Doogie White, which is why they are all over YouTube! I would put these 2 songs against anything from the classic era. Then we take a bit of a dip with Graham Bonnet singing Night Moods - an average filler track if ever I heard one and I wish it was Bonnet`s old hit Night Moves. The Girl with the stars in her eyes with Doogie is quite a catchy strong track with a more interesting less machine like drum rhythm. Then Bonnet is back singing on a terrible song driven by those unstoppable double tempo drums and fast picked single string riffing up and down a scale - the drums are hideous and the song lacks melody. Bonnets vocals arent bad but he has lost a lot of his recognisable rasp. The solo is completely unremarkable as well - just useless. Then Messin` around is another really mediocre song with Gary Barden on vocals (it is good to hear his recognisable voice even if it is heavily processed these days) - the chord progression is so basic its hard to do a melodic solo over it and so it proves. Then those bloody drums come back pounding away ruining what might have been a decent catchy song in Time knows when its time - this time however there is much better solo work from the maestro. Anchors away is a great song with Doogie White on vocals, it opens with some actual keyboards then a heavy chugging riff with a slower galloping drum rhythm and some classic schenker chordal riffing which harks back to classic MSG and keyboards are audible just in the background - great stuff. Now we come to the instrumental track Salvation and no its not a classic but still fun. I am listening to it right now and trying to imagine how it would sound if the drum track was removed and some keyboards added - I think it would be much better! Living a life worth living is a mid tempo rocker sung by Gary Barden and given some time to breathe without a wall of percussion is a lot stronger. The album closer is a group vocal song called the Last Supper which has some nice soloing on it.Overall there are some really great moments on this album, some decent ones and some real filler. The vocal performances are excellent from Robin and Doogie and require greater studio processing for Graham and Gary but it is nice to hear old familiar friends still rocking out. Generally I loathe the dominance given to the percussion which has a really fatiguing sound and I dont think has been recorded particularly well in the mix. Just listen to the dynamically recorded drumming on the next much superior Fest album Revelation and you will see what I mean - mind you Simon Phillips is just an awesomely superior drummer on that album!I would have preferred more space for keyboards to be heard and more chordal riffing. However in the scheme of things the next Fest album and the 50th Anniversary album shows us that Michael is well and truly back as those two albums show even stronger song writing! I bought them all and am celebrating!

Interesting interviews on the bonus dvd as well as great tracks on the cd.
Good to have this album in your collection - contains 12 tracks with several different vocalists who have worked with Michael Schenker over the years. The bonus dvd has extensive interview footage, particularly with the man himself. It's surprising to realise just how long he's been around the music business, evolving his own style.

Great album - great vinyl
In my opinion the best MS album so far. A great recording and the vinyl is excellent. Do beware that the album is only across three of the four sides - this nearly caught me out!

Another good album.
Purchased to add to my MSG collection. To hear 4 different vocalists is a treat on one album as they really do blend together. The DVD is a little disappointing but hey who really cares as it the music we want.
