Required textbook for my college-age son. I noticed the illustratiin and materials are well-planned. Easy format adds in learning. Much better than the textbooks I've seen out there for health science majors.

I purchased this eText because I could not copy and paste from the "protected" online text that accompanied my Biology course. I disabled Java Script but no solutions produced a manuscript I could right-click and then make flash cards for my study. This eText is copy-pastable but the pictures must be double-clicked to see them in full size / resolution. Without any refinement, the eText looks like a book that should be read to middle-schoolers. The first chapter is infuriating as the authors seem to try to mix existing principles and then show something new and original, only to confuse me and I lost points on a lab quiz. The paragraph on presenting and analyzing data, for example. Is a graph used to present or to analyze? No clear answer from the authors, so points off for me on a quiz written by the authors. Also, contrary to the author's belief, emergent properties are not characteristics of the individual pieces, as the book states, but it is a product of the interactions of the parts working together. Emergent properties are found at the next level of those conjoined pieces; they are properties that manifest themselves as the result of various system components working together, not as a property of any individual component. This is essential for understanding the interactions between organisms at the species then population then community then ecosystem levels. Finally, using a VPN, this item is 30 dollars if I had a German IP address. I paid $41. Thanks, Amazon. You got me...again.This was only Chapter One. It's going to be a long course.

I’m being charged for a book I told you wouldn’t work. I want my money back. I’ve had nothing but problems all summer with amazon. I pay monthly for prime and don’t even get my items in two days like I’m suppose to and this. Your book is still in the package it was received in. You can have it but I want my money back
