ASA Square Chart Plotter

I always carry this plotter with me in flight now because when it comes time to deroute, it's fast and effective. Just drop it on your chart and make a few small adjustments, the range rings have proven invaluable when talking to ATC on-the-fly. It fits perfectly under my Helipad clipboard so it's always there when I need it... and one day, you will need it!

I like this thing. I always thought that the regular plotters seemed slightly counterintuitive. This plotter gives you headings from whatever point you center it on, including reciprocals right beneath the primary markings. That is VERY helpful as a pilot who struggles a bit with math. Plop this thing down on a VOR, check the reciprocal, turn your OBS to it, bam, you get a “TO” flag.That being said, the size is both a blessing and a curse. It’s easy to fit in a flight bag. Con: you might need a separate straight edge of some sort to get accurate headings.Other than that, this thing makes a lot more sense to me than the traditional plotters.

I am studying for the FAA privet pilot exam and this thing works much better (for me) than the standard type of protractor. It is like the one I used in the Marines for navel gun fire.

it is very useful,but too expensive

I was happily buying a made in USA square protractor for structural Geology work and unfortunately received a piece made in China.
